The top ranked prospect from Colorado this recruiting cycle, Major held scholarship offers from over 50 Division-1 programs before he began narrowing it down. Major cut his list down to 20 in mid-June, then down to 11 on July 31st, he then announced his final list of seven potential suitors in August. "This is by far the most recruiting attention anyone from our program has ever received," Ponderosa head coach Randy Huff previously told Rivals.com. "The way Jon has handled all the attention [from colleges] has been amazing. He is certainly busy with it, but I don't think it's been tough on him." Major took countless visits, including official visits to Oklahoma, Colorado and Wisconsin. After all the frequent flyer mileage Major racked up through his recruiting process, he ended up deciding that he will play his college football less than an hours drive from home. This is the second year in a row <font color="#000000">Dan Hawkins</font> and the Buffaloes' staff has been able to land the top in-state recruit. Last cycle, they signed five-star offensive tackle <font color="#000000">Ryan Miller</font>. Major has racked up more than 300 tackles during his high school career. He helped the Mustangs to a 5-4 record this fall, which will be good enough for them to earn a playoff berth. "The colleges like that Jon is an easy going guy and they love what they've seen on him," Huff said. "They like how he runs and he can certainly bring it when he hits. Jon does a lot of things correct out on the field and he has the intangibles, the test score and the other things they look for." Young for his grade, Major won't turn 18 years old until next July.</p>
