1.) Get a 3rd option, the rockets are desperately needing a 3rd option so Yao and T-Mac don't have all this pressure. The player i think may be best for this is Mike James. He is a great scorer and he has shown that during the 05-06 season when he had his breakout year showing he can create his own shot and score when needed. However, i think he may need to come off the bench showing how good of a scorer he is. 2.) Get the defensive acts together, the rockets have not been playing very good defense lately especially when they played the warriors. Yao has been guarding players able to hit the 3 because the other team goes small ( Kevin Garnett, Matt Barnes, Jamario Moon) all of them taught yao a lesson except moon. They need to use a zone defense so Yao can stay close in the paint because one of his weaknesses is defending the pick n roll because he's not willing to go far away from the paint because of his speed. 3.) Tracy Move without the ball, it seems everytime i see Tracy McGrady move without the ball and go through curls and screens the rockets win. Tracy needs to stop working with the ball so much all the time and score some of the easy shots like a Ray Allen or a Michael Redd would by moving without the ball. Another reason why this should happen is so Rafer Alston can have the ball in his hands more and create more plays. 4.) Run the offense Adelman wants, in the beginning of the season the rockets were running the offense the way adelman wanted it but later in the season the offense began stagnant because they were making the shots so they went back to the pick n roll with T-Mac and Yao. Where it is a 2 vs 5 offense. In Adelman's system there is a lot of ball movement and Yao is on the high post often while battier, alston and t-mac cut a lot to get an open shot which might be necessary to use a shoot-first PG instead of a Pass-first PG like a Rafer Alston. 5.) Alston needs to get more pick n rolls, it seems like Alston seems to work very well with the pick n roll people never tend to guard alston once yao makes the pick so alston can easily just dish it out while penetrating or he can just score the easy layup which happened during the celtics game. Alston is also a great creator and he can find his teammates the open shot. 6.) Running the offense through yao and tmac, the way this rocket team should run the offense is when Yao has an easy matchup on him and t-mac has a tough one on him. Run it through Yao, and if Yao is having it off-night you can run your offense through Tracy which is also what Fred Carter said on NBATV. It is either that or 1 quarter you can run your offense through tracy while the next quarter you can run it through Yao.
