wow. This is like someone saying "Hey want to hear the most disgusting story ever?" and you out of sheer curiousity and stupidity think "really, the MOST? naah it can't be..." then you read it anyways

She couldn't have known the actual dangers. Her parents probably told her at some point that you can die that way. If not, it's sobering that depression hits 6 year-olds these days.

Makes me think of all the catroon, video games... that show people being killed in any number of ways and then walking around again. I wonder if that plays a part here?

Holy Smokes! RIP and so sad to hear. I too wonder if it has to do with stuff on movies and video games etc.

OMG that is horrible...I have a 6 year old step daughter...man it is awful to have even read this story.

That said, my 10 year old got really mad at me a couple years ago...I think because I made him take a bath...and he yelled at me "I am going to kill you while you sleep!" Thankfully he did not...

This is... I don't have words for it.

I really don't think this is the appropriate thread to make a joke in.

I cannot fathom the feeling of losing a young child so suddenly like that. What a nightmare for all involved.

There is no thread in which it is inappropriate to make a joke.

In my law class, the professor sure liked to make fun of some 6-year-old boy who had lost his penis sticking it into the moving parts of some toy. (The girls in the class would laugh.) His lesson was that not all consumer lawsuits are appropriate, and sometimes we just have to take responsibility for our own actions and not sue. (Years later Jay Leno started his show, and spent the first couple of years ridiculing some guy because his ex-girlfriend had cut off his penis.)

I guess the reason some say no jokes are allowed about this one is because this was a girl. I don't think it was true suicide. She just heard of doing this and tried it. Whoever told her about doing this should be blaming him- or herself, but I wouldn't call it suicide caused by depression. It was more like accidental suicide caused by copying what she had heard. The disciplinarian authoritarian mother was trying to teach her to self-efface her own personality, which is a symbolic suicide.

Accidental suicide reminds me of Marilyn Monroe. They always said it was straight suicide because drugs she used as sleeping pills were found in her system. I guess accidental suicide isn't on the coroner's list of possibilities when he fills out the death certificate.

I don't think so. I think the point is that she wanted to die and not come back and walk around again.

You have to wonder what hell she was going through in her home or school life to resort to this.

    Incest, physical/verbal abuse, bullying...?

Sympathy for the family aside, there needs to be a thorough investigation into the cause, because there is most definitely a cause.
