<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Haddonfield High's Brian Zoubek, a 7-foot-1 center who is regarded as one of the nation's premier junior basketball players, will make an oral college commitment at 3 p.m. today in the school's library.

Duke and Stanford are the two finalists. Paul Wiedeman, the Haddonfield coach, didn't want to say which school Zoubek had selected.

Wiedeman, however, may have tipped his hand when he phoned one of Duke's most devoted South Jersey fans - Lauree Padgett, who organizes Haddonfield's athletic Hall of Fame - and asked her if she wanted to be at the news conference.

After he visited Duke in late April, Zoubek appeared to be leaning toward the Blue Devils. But that changed when he visited Stanford the next weekend.

Zoubek recently said that both schools made great impressions and that neither was the favorite.

Insiders think Duke has a slight edge because of its closer proximity to Haddonfield.

Zoubek recently told stanfordscout.com that "I could make my own impact [at Stanford]. Whether that is a plus or a minus, it's hard for me to tell. I'm just confident that I can be successful in both programs."

When he visited Duke, his hosts were Lee Melchionni and J.J. Redick. "They left a great impression on me," Zoubek told stanfordscout.com.</div>
