<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Rasheed Wallace? You mean the 6-foot-11 forward and Philadelphia native who made almost $17 million last season while helping lead the Detroit Pistons to the 2004 NBA championship? Well, it's worth a shot, even if the Sixers have only the midlevel exception to offer Wallace, a total of roughly a little more than $5 million per season. "If he decides to sign with the Knicks for the exception, people will wonder why we didn't do anything," King said yesterday after the Sixers held their first summer league workout at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Knicks are expected to try to convince Wallace that New York is the place to be even though they, like the Sixers, are over the salary cap and can offer just the midlevel exception. The Sixers, of course, can trot out Wallace in front of his hometown fans 41 games per season. The Pistons, meanwhile, can offer Wallace whatever they want. Sources have said they will start at $10 million per season for a four- or five-year contract, well over what the Sixers and Knicks can offer. However, Wallace doesn't seem to be in any hurry to decide. He is relaxing with his family before he arrives in Philadelphia for his annual summer basketball camp, which begins Monday at his alma mater, Simon Gratz High School.</div> [cemter]Link[/center] It's pretty much a long-shot, but I'll share my views on this later. Speak.
no chance on signing him, but if they oculd it would be a huge signing. It won't happen tho, it's just a crazy far fetched rumor
I dont think it is that long of a shot if 'Sheed calls Philly home why wouldnt he want to come back home? I think theres a pretty good chance of this but a better chance of him staying in Detroit where he won his 1st championship.
it's a money thing. the sixers don't have it. do you think Rasheed would come home to play for 5 mil per or stay where he's at and get 10 mil per?
Sheed to philly excellent. I would like that. they can have another low post persence and AI can get more points. What a good idea go for it.
Sheed would be a perfect fit in my opinion.. but we dont have the money to do it. Its a shame really, i think he wants to play here. I remember during his postgame press conferences he would watch the flyers playoff games and every time they would score he would get up and cheer.
The man just won a championship, something he has been waiting his whole life for. To come to Philadelphia, granted it is his home, for a measly 5.1 million dollars, or to try for another ring with a pay of over 10 million dollars is a huge difference. The NBA is a business, and the players are it's clients, Rasheed just happens to be one of them.
I dont think he will be in philly next year unless he really wants to play in his home town...I think I see him in Detroit trying to win another Championship.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kobe 8 Ball:</div><div class="quote_post">I dont think he will be in philly next year unless he really wants to play in his home town...I think I see him in Detroit trying to win another Championship.</div> Yeah... Detroit has it all: the money he wants, the chance for another ring, and he actually gets along with his teammates. If i was him, you wouldnt be able to get me out of Detroit.

Since Isiah Thomas is offering him more money, I wouldn't be surprised if he did sign with the Knicks. If the money was clouding his mind up, I think we would have a pretty good shot at signing him regardless of the money that we're offering him. But for now we have to settle for the likes of Blount.

It's very likely they will spend their MLE on Jamal Crawford rather than Sheed. Next week is when Sheed will make some kind of decision. IF he wants to get paid and win then he will re-sign with the Pistons. bottom line
Man this is a dream for us Sixers fans, maybe if Sheed really wanted to come and play for his home town and take a pay cut and want to play with AI, then who knows but I dont think he wants to leave a championship caliber team to come to a team that didnt make the play offs.
"While center Memhet Okur was verbally comitting to the Utah Jazz on Monday, taking another quality big man from East to West, Pistons president Joe Dumars was in Philadelphia negotiating with star forward Rasheed Wallace. The Pistons, who knew they'd have to lose Okur to re-sign the co-anchor of their defense, alongside Ben Wallace, could have a verbal agreement in place with 'Sheed as soon as Tuesday." From a Philadelphia newspaper.
I'm happy for Sheed, he deserves this. He's finally got everything going in a positive direction for once
Sheed would be retarded to sign with the 76ers. Hes got money and his team will be a title contender for years to come. What more could he want? Hes got it all there this rumor is bs
Well since Sheed hasnt re-signed with the Pistons yet then maybe we can still try and make a run at him since we couldnt land Mark Blount.
You can make a run for it, but you'll fail. Let's see championship team in Detroit with 10+ million vs. lottery-bound team in hometown with MLE option. Hmm, that's a toughie.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">if 'Sheed calls Philly home why wouldnt he want to come back home?</div> Kobe calls Phila "Home" too. Don't count on signing him to an MLE FA contract either. I'd call this one (and the Knicks for that matter) a VERY LONG SHOT.
