It was just a matter of a time before this happened. There was a possibility that he was probably going to get traded to Denver, but the most possible scenario was a buyout. And as expected, it happened.

However, I believe Buckner would probably be a decent player off the bench for this team. But he showed no promise last season and with the loaded depth in our bench, there was simply no room for him. Maybe, if he produced something last season, things would be different. But the best of luck to him to what ever lies in his career.

Yes, if you buyout someone's contract out you don't get anything in return. It's basically like saying "here's your damn money, now get the hell out of our hair".

    Um...duh.

I'm glad we got rid of Greg, he brought nothing to the team, and was just a waste of bench space. Nice to see the roster getting cut down, and us trying to get our core team together.

Sasha, but Buckner is such a really nice person in real life and care about his fans. LOL

He is a good player and a good role player for a team that needs one. Greg could also help out a team that needs some vet leadership but not here. Sorry.

He is a decent player but there wasnt a place for him on are roster because we are already loaded with SG/SF's,this benifits us because we make cap room when Denver picks up his contract.

Actually we do...in a way. We get one less player under contract. While, it?s nothing special and don't get nothing in return, the satisfaction of no longer having Buckner on the team was worth the trouble. Cleared a little cap room in the process.

What's with the change of heart? Last time I recall you liked Buckner, and thought that he would fit well under O'Brien's fastbreak system. And also thought he would be a good player off the bench to replace Iverson instead of Aaron Mckie, the player whom you said that hasn?t showed up to play the last couple seasons.

I`m going to miss Buck. I remember in the 02-03 season he played some good D against the Pistons. But like Avery said, he just showed nothing last season. At least we got rid of that high contract.

We get a roster spot open, and cap room thats really it. He was of no use to the team, and we basically could not have gotten anyone good for him at most we get some unproven player its good to see him leave for both sides good for him because he gets his money and can do what he wants like sign with denver good for us because he had worn out his welcome in Philly and was on the way out either way.

Sure, I thought he would fit well, but there are players that will fit there better, I was saying Greg had the capabilities to, but was never the core of who is to fit under O'Briens system. Again, there are players that are better than one another, and Greg is better than Aaron, surely, but that still doesn't change my opinion that he isn't much. Iverson is better than the whole team, but if he were to get traded for another player, and had I spoken about Iverson being better than the team and then he gets traded, it would still be the same. I would be glad that he got traded if we recevied a better option in return. There are always going to be players better than that one or those two players that I might have included in a previous discussion, but that doesn't change the fact, that there is a better option than that one player.

im not sure if i like buck getting waived...too much changing going on for the sixers..i dont like it...first snow..then buck.. whos next Aaron McKie?

I just hope King and Obie has some major scheme in the works with that extra money and roster spot...i think one more deal will go down before the season starts...and hopefully it will be a REALLY good one..

Well Buckner didnt really have a place on this team, would you rather let Buckner get minutes or are young guys like Kyle Korver and Salmons get PT,we realesed him because we had plenty of 2 guards and SF's,plus he wasnt doing much for the Sixers anyway.
