Maurice Cheeks? first win as Head Coach of the Sixers came at Indiana (11/5), 111-109. In the third game of the season against Charlotte (11/4), Chris Webber?s 25-point effort moved him past 15,000 points for his career. The Sixers gained their first home win of the season against Dallas, 112-97 (11/9). Andre Iguodala starred for the Sixers in their next game, a win against the LA Lakers (11/11), 85-81. In that game, he pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds and added five points, but more importantly held Kobe Bryant, the NBA?s leading scorer, to just 17 points on 7-for-27 shooting. In Philadelphia?s win at Toronto (11/16), Allen Iverson surpassed the 17,000 point mark for his career. In the same game, Iguodala again had an impressive night, recording his first double-double of the season with a career-high 26 points and 10 rebounds. His six three-point field goals were also a career-high. The win marked the second time this season that Philadelphia had three starters score 20 or more points in a game. After being swept in a back-to-back at Miami (11/18) and vs. Cleveland (11/19), Iverson went on to score a then NBA season-high 45 points on 11/23 at Milwaukee. His next time out, 11/26 at New York, he again dropped 40 points, but also added 10 assists for his first 40/10 game of the year. Samuel Dalembert made his season debut in the same game against the Knicks (11/26), after missing the first 13 of with a right quad strain. The Sixers concluded the month splitting a back-to-back vs. Portland (11/29) and at Boston (11/30). Philadelphia set a season-high with 60 boards against Cheeks? former team and went on to win, 107-83, ending the month a perfect 5-0 against the West at home. The Sixers were unable to make it a winning month with a 103-110 loss in Boston the very next night.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">December (7-7) (15-15) The Sixers started off the month of December streaking. First, they dropped their initial three games (12/2 at NOK, 12/3 at SAS and 12/7 vs. MIL), before winning four in a row (12/9 vs. CHA, 12/10 at NJ, 12/12 vs. MIN and 12/14 vs. ATL). Allen Iverson was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week on 12/12 as the result of averaging 36.0 points, 8.0 assists and 2.3 steals in the three games against MIL, CHA and NJ. It was the 17th time in his career that he had received the honor. Philadelphia then gained their first overtime win of the season when they defeated Minnesota (12/14), 90-89 at the Wachovia Center. Chris Webber led the way for the Sixers as he recorded his ninth career 20-point, 20-rebound game with 27 points and 21 rebounds, both team-highs. After falling at home to the Miami Heat, 105-112 (12/18), the Sixers bounced back to defeat Toronto (12/18) at the Air Canada Centre, 107-80, for their largest margin of victory on the year. The 12/21 game vs. Golden State marked Philadelphia?s final home game of the month, and their 111-100 win over the Warriors gave the Sixers a perfect 7-0 record at home against Western Conference opponents. Philadelphia then set off on their season-long seven-game road trip, which started in Atlanta (12/23). Although they lost the game108-111, Iverson recorded his 10th career 50-point game with 53 points, a Philips Arena floor record. The trip then headed out West, where the Sixers earned their first road victory against a Western Conference opponent on the year with a 108-106 victory over Denver (12/27). Philadelphia then failed to sweep the TrailBlazers on 12/28 in the season series in Maurice Cheeks? return to Portland, losing 91-95. The Sixers concluded 2005 with a New Year?s Eve matchup against the Utah Jazz. The102-108 loss at the Delta Center gave them an even 7-7 record on the month put them at 15-15 overall for the season.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">January (8-7) (23-22) The Sixers began the New Year three games into their season-long seven game road trip, and earned their first win in 2006 with a 111-98 victory over Sacramento (1/3). The win over the Kings snapped the team?s two-game losing streak and a nine-game losing skid to Sacramento. Philadelphia concluded the trip with a pair of losses at Phoenix (1/4) and the LA Lakers (1/6) for a 2-5 record on the longest trip of the season. The Sixers returned to Philadelphia where they had a favorable schedule with nine of their remaining 12 games for the month to be played at the Wachovia Center. They went 4-2 through their first six games, highlighted by a pair of overtime wins. The first came in triple-OT vs. Boston (1/13), the first 3OT game for the Sixers in 14 years. Philadelphia won, 125-124, thanks to three double-doubles by Allen Iverson (33 pts, 10 ast), Chris Webber (31 pts, 13 reb) and Samuel Dalembert (20 pts, 11 reb). Allen Iverson was named NBA Player of the Week (1/17) for the second time on the year after he recorded back-to-back 40 points games, 1/9 and 1/11. In their next OT game, Philadelphia defeated Memphis, 89-86 on 1/20. In that game, the Sixers overcame a six-point deficit late in the fourth quarter to force overtime and took over from there. With a win over Seattle on 1/9, the Sixers extended their home win streak over the West to eight straight games, but had it end when the Utah Jazz came to town (1/11) and defeated Philadelphia, 102-108. The 76ers snapped a three-game road-losing streak with an 86-84 win over Minnesota (1/22) thanks to an Andre Iguodala buzzer-beater, the first game-winning shot of his career. That win, as well as the Sixers 109-103 win over the Kings (1/24) marked the first and second regular season series sweeps of the season for Philadelphia. It was the Sixers first sweep over Sacramento since the 1988-89 season, and the first sweep over Minnesota since 1991-92. Philadelphia concluded the month with a back-to-back sweep over New York (1/28) and at Orlando (1/29), playing without Allen Iverson (left ankle sprain). The Sixers final game of the month came against the Pacific Division leading Phoenix Suns who handed the Sixers an 85-105 loss. Despite the loss, Philadelphia ended up with a plus-.500 record (8-7) in January and a 23-22 record overall.</div>

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">February (5-6) (28-28) The Sixers opened up February dropping four of their first five games. Playing without Allen Iverson for the fourth-straight game, the Sixers fell in the first half of a back-to-back with an 80-87 loss to the Pistons in Philadelphia (2/3). The next night in Cleveland (2/4), Philadelphia got Iverson back and earned a 100-95 win, which marked their season-high third-straight road win. Philadelphia then lost their next three games to the Rockets (2/6), Bobcats (2/8) and Wizards (2/12), before knocking off the San Antonio Spurs (2/15) in overtime, 103-100, at the Wachovia Center. The very next night (2/16), Philadelphia followed up their impressive win over the Spurs with an 84-117 loss at Chicago, proving to be the largest margin of defeat of the season. During the 2006 All-Star Weekend, Andre Iguodala made quite a name for himself. He first won the MVP award in the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge, and then one night later participated in the first ever "dunk-off" in Dunk Contest history, as he finished second to Knicks guard Nate Robinson in the Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk Contest. In the main event, Allen Iverson was a starter in his seventh straight All-Star game and was a member of an Eastern Conference squad that erased a 21-point deficit to win the game 122-120. Iverson finished with 12 points. After a five-day layoff for the All-Star Game, the Sixers got back on track by winning three-straight games. The three-game win streak was highlighted by three Sixers players (Iverson, Iguodala, Webber) reaching at least 20 points in their win over Cleveland (2/22). In the win at Milwaukee (2/24), Kyle Korver set a career-high with 31 points off the bench, and Allen Iverson moved into third place on the franchise?s all-time scoring list ahead of Julius Erving. Philadelphia redeemed themselves with a 108-102 win over the Chicago Bulls (2/25). In that game, the Sixers set a Wachovia Center floor record for most free throws made and attempted. Philadelphia closed out the month with a road loss at Dallas (2/27).

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">March (5-10) (33-38) The Sixers opened up March with a 106-101 win at Houston (3/1), a city they hadn?t won in in five seasons. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Rockets, which was the team?s longest losing streak against any team. Allen Iverson had his third 40-point, 10-assist game of the year, and as a result, won his third Eastern Conference Player of the Week award in 2005-06. After beating Washington at home (3/3), Philadelphia went on to lose three straight against the Pacers (3/5), Celtics (3/8) and Nuggets (3/9). In all three of those games, the Sixers were either tied or had the lead with fewer than three minutes to play. The loss to Denver concluded the Sixers home schedule against Western Conference opponents (11-4). The Sixers bounced back with a win at Memphis (3/12), sweeping the Grizzlies in the season series, but lost Allen Iverson for four games due to a right foot sprain and contusion. Philadelphia went on to lose each of the four games (vs. TOR 3/14, at SEA 3/16, at LAC 3/17 and at GS 3/19) while Iverson was out. Upon his return, the Sixers defeated the Atlanta Hawks (3/22), 115-106. Philadelphia had three players score 20 or more points (Iverson-29, Korver-23 and Webber-21) for the seventh time of the year. The Sixers struggled in their next three games, losing to Orlando (3/24), Indiana (3/26) and Detroit (3/29) by an average of 13 points. Philadelphia concluded the month, playing the first half of a home and home set against the Knicks in New York (3/31). In the 117-112 win, Iverson (47) and Webber (34) combined to score 81 points, the most they have ever scored in a game together as teammates. Webber?s 34 points were a career-best as a Sixer. </div>

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">April (5-6) (38-44) The final month of the season presented the Sixers with their first five games in seven days. They took the first versus New York (4/2), 114-95 thanks to Andre Iguodala who narrowly missed his second career triple-double with 20 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. Philadelphia then stumbled when they lost both ends of a back-to-back at Cleveland (4/4) and vs. Chicago (4/5). They lost a third-straight game when they began a home-away back-to-back, 4/7 vs. Boston. In a must-win game the next night in Chicago (4/8), Philadelphia kept their playoff hopes alive with an 89-75 win over the Bulls. The 75 points allowed would prove to be a season-low for an opponent. The Sixers went on to win their next two games vs. Washington (4/10) and at New Jersey (4/12). In the 105-97 win over the Wizards, the Sixers had three players score 20-plus points, including 20 from Steven Hunter, which tied his career-high. Allen Iverson had his fifth (4-1) 40-point, 10-assist game of the season in the 20-point road win (116-96) over the Nets, which landed him in the company of Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Nate Archibald and Michael Jordan as the only players to have at least five in a season. Iverson also became the sixth-fastest player to eclipse the 19,000-point mark for his career in the win over the Wizards. Philadelphia?s three-game win streak was snapped when they traveled to Miami to play the Heat (4/14). The loss also dropped them to a full game behind Chicago for the eighth and final Eastern Conference Playoff spot. The Sixers went on to get swept in a back-to-back set of games for the seventh time on the season when they fell at Orlando the next night (4/15). Orlando?s Dwight Howard scored 28 points and pulled down 26 rebounds in the game which all but ended the Sixers playoff hopes. The next day (4/16), wins by the Bulls and Wizards officially knocked the Sixers out playoff contention for the second time in the last eight seasons. Philadelphia concluded the 2005-06 season with a back-to-back against New Jersey at home (4/18) and a road matchup with the Charlotte Bobcats (4/19). In the 91-88 win over the Nets in the home finale, Iguodala set a career-high with 27 points and Head Coach Maurice Cheeks earned his 200th career win. Philadelphia?s loss to the Bobcats in the regular season finale the next night in Charlotte gave them a 38-44 record on the season.
