Who Would Win a Best of 7 Series?I think it would interesting to see Magic's Lakers at there best against the most entertaining team to watch of today.

85 Lakers. But I don't think it's fair to say because we are only halfway through the season. Magic's versatility and vision along with Kareem's post dominance would edge it out for them to win.

They wouldn't sweep them. The thing people forget most about these teams are the mismatches and 3pt line (you can read about my whole arguement about the mismatches and such about this same Suns vs '80's Lakers topic a few months ago). Basically each team would have many mismatches, but the biggest difference is the 3pt line. The 3pt line was a new thing in the '80's, and was not shot nearly at the same rate or efficiency that teams shoot it today. Suns shoot it like layup drills, with the most attempts, most made and highest % in the league. This would change the dynamic of the series.I think anywhere between a 5-7 game series would be likely, with lakers coming out on top.

I think it would be fun to watch but the Lakers would win. The Suns need to prove themselves still this year, but they would not be swept. They have room to get even better this season and that's a scary thought with how they've been doing. I think that even at the Suns' best the Lakers would win in 6 though. More talent on those 80's teams back then and Kareem and Magic would kill the Suns even though we'd have some things going our way too.

Well, until the Suns can prove anything in the playoffs, I am going to go against them in any tough matchup. Especially since they are playing one of the best teams of all time in the 85 Lakers. Although I think todays game of basketball is much more advanced then even in the 80's, this team was so good. Also, I dont think anybody would be able to stop Kareem. He was just too good and big. Also, it would be amazing to see both Nash AND Magic in the same game. Imagine how many amazing passes their would be...

Yep I would have to go with the Lakers too I mean the Suns are a great team with an offense you can't stop but the Lakers have probably 2 of the best players to ever play the game and they shared the court at the same time.

The '72 Lakers would beat them both.

When I first saw this thread I thought there was going to be a joke inside lmfao. The '07 Suns can't even handle the '07 Mavs. They'd get slaughtered by the '85 Lakers.

Are you suggesting the eighties was so strong that a 65 win team now is worse than a 42-40 team then?

They WOULD Sweep the 2007 Suns. Any team that can give 132 points to the 2006 Bucks will not stand a chance against the 1985 Lakers. The Lakers (unlike the Suns) could dominate in the halfcourt too, they were one of the best rebounding teams and they were a great defensive team. The guy who said the 1972 Lakers would beat the 2007 Suns and the 1985 Lakers is right, but all three of them would get the sh*t kicked out of them by the 1967 Philadelphia 76ers. Look that team up!

You bring up that Bucks game but the Suns rarely have games like that. That must've been in the couple weeks after we lost Kurt Thomas last year and it screwed us up. What about holding the Spurs to 34 2nd half points, 9 in the last 8 minutes and forcing 19 turnovers and getting praise for the defense by one of the best defensive coaches right now? Or the other 18 games were we held the other team to under 100 and were 19-0 in all those games? The Suns play solid D right now...with the pace they play they can't make the opposition average less than 100 points during the season. They are already the best at point differential, if they held teams under 100 too they would be the best team in the history of sports. They would be winning games this year by an average of about 13 points. A 5 point differential is supposed to show that you are a good playoff team.Don't worry though, no one has said that the Suns would win yet, but when they are at their best it would be a good series.

Points allowed was a cheapshot. I know the Suns have a kickass win margin but they are still weak at defense and nowhere close to the 85 Lakers. I mean the 85 Lakers gave up 109ppg so it's really quite misleading. I just like talking sh*t on the Suns, no hard feelings. And holding the Spurs to 34 points at halftime isn't all that great, I mean, they are the Spurs. They give away free pizzas to their fans whenever they score past 85 :lol:Seriously, somebody look up the 1967 76ers.
