I just got my PS3 today and encountered some issues while playing.

Firstly, the graphics suck. I have an EDTV, which apparently isn't as strong as HD. Does this mean I need a new TV? What kind of TV's do you guys have?

Secondly, I was playing NBA 2K8 online and came back from a 14-point deficit to take a 3 point lead late in the fourth. Sensing defeat, my opponent starts messing with the connection while I'm shooting free throws. Then the game ends with me sending it to arbitration (I have no idea what that will do). Anyway, I'm pissed about that since he was one of those Kobe abusers who would replay every dunk. Then this clown had the nerve to say "Abused some exploits". What do I do in a case like this?

About the EDTV issue. Are you using the composite cables, the ones that come with the PS3 (Red/Yellow/White) or component cables? Because if you are using the composite cables, you are essentially playing in standard definition, 480i.

Yeah, I'm using the red/yellow/white ones. So, I guess that was the problem?

Get component cables or HDMI cables (if supported by your TV) to get optimal resolution. Don't get sucked into buying the $50 cables as well, as a $8 set will do the same job with no obvious drop in quality.
