1) We let Luc Longley's retarded cousin David Andersen score 11 points on us. That dude is seriously garbage. I have no idea why he's on a NBA roster. We should be ashamed. I mean, honestly, take a look at what ESPN thinks of the guy. They (A) don't have a number for him; (B) don't even know what team he's on; and (C) have his position down as permanently "IR." 2) Brandon Roy got shut down by Chase fucking Budinger in the 4th quarter. Now it would be one thing if it was on the tennis court while Chase was being watched by his parents Chip and Buffy, but this was in Brandon's house on the basketball court in his element (late in the game). I kept screaming at Brandon to drive on that moppy haired fuck, but he kept settling for outside shots. If B wants to be a superstar, he's got to own fringe NBA players like Budinger like the little fucking lap dogs they are. Now man up and take the Thuggets to the woodshed on Thursday.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=1764 They have a profile for him. And he scored 11 points, off of a 24 foot 3 pointer, a 19 foot jumper, and a 20 foot jumper as 3 of his shots. What would you like us to do, cover a scrub 6'11" guy 20 feet from the basket? He hit shots when he was open, and it made sense to leave him open, since he is a scrub. I don't see how that is an embarassment at all.
I thought Brandon was just flat out bad all game. It was especially so in the forth quarter. We should have put back in the Miller, Rudy, Webster, Aldridge and Oden unit that rocked the second quarter. They would have torn the roof off the mother fucker.
David Andersen has been a pretty good international player for years. He's 29 years old, right in his prime, and he is a very good shooter. He wasn't exploited defensively, either, which is the primary weakness in his game. I doubt he scored 11 that often, but a shooter making a few shots isn't that big of a shock, let alone an embarrassment. Ed O.
Brandon wasn't bad. He just got fouled on almost every drive he took. He had what 10 foul shots? They were double teaming him at almost every position, and when he was 1v1 with Chase, he scored or got fouled on every possession except once when he hit into a double team and turned it over. He cross-over, step back jump-shot on Chase, left Chase like 10 feet in front of him. IDK what game you were watching...
A. When you're a scrub in the NBA, you're still a very good basketball player, and he hit some open looks outside, and some tough looks inside. Are you implying that our defense wasn't very good last night? Because I would beg to differ. B. Yes Brandon was off, was forcing it, and didn't look all that great. It wasn't Chase that was shutting him down solely last night (though I really was pretty impressed with his D, which isn't saying much cause I didn't think he was worth crap,) but the entire Rockets team. Brandon missed some passes to Greg, Lamarcus, and Joel because he was forcing it into double and triple teams. By game 5 of the season Brandon will have his swagger back and we'll be well on our way to a great season.
I would rather let this guy take open 20 footers then spend a ton of energy guarding him. And why is it embarrassing? An NBA player SHOULD be able to hit a wide open 20 footer.
Or pass the ball even ONCE to one of his teammates while they're open. Brandon was pulling a Kome in that fourth quarter, and I hated it.
It SEEMS like Brandon is entering a new phase in his career, changing in a sense. The phase he's in right now, I don't know if it will lead us anywhere significant. But the phase I'm talking about is a similar one Kobe entered when the lakers traded Shaq. It was all about him there for awhile. I'm getting some of that same stuff from Brandon right now. Wonder if it might be the contract.
I agree. He's been so used to carrying this team on his back for four quarters, but now he just doesn't have to anymore. He can pick his spots, and then come the fourth, it's his time to close it out. He'll figure it out somehow.
Well I dare say I may just have seen Andersen play a few more times than any of you guys, and Ed O has it spot on. He's a good shooter. He will hurt you if you leave him open. We should have been abusing him down low at the other end.
