1.) To keep Paul Pierce happy. He said he wants to be on a contender within the next few years. So either we make Boston a contender, or we can kiss Paul goodbye. I know if we can get a reliable team with two all-star calibur players (one being Paul), we can go deep into the playoffs. Paul said he wanted the world to see what he could do if he got deep into the playoffs, let's make sure he's doing it in green.2.) We need veteran presence anyways. What good is young talent, if they have no one to show them the way? We have a few good vets, but why not have a vet that can actually play?3.) Relevence. In Boston in the past few years, it's been Redsox this, pats that, the Cs will finally get some credit in Beantown. This of course will translate to more ticket sales, more profit, and you know management will jump on that.4.) If we have too much young talent together, they will cloud eachothers development. some very optomistic Celtic fans believe Gerald Green can average 25 ppg in the future, but that will never happen when Al Jefferson, Delonte West, Bassy, Gomes are all in their prime. Most of our players will never reach their full potential, others won't even scratch the surface.5.) We have a logjam. When i made the thread about rotations, i noticed how many guys on this team deserved fair minutes. No contending team in the league has a 10 man regular rotation. A 2-for-1 or a 3-for-1 would be great for us. It would clear up some space, and we'd of course get a better player in return.6.) Wally simply won't cut it as a second option. He can't create for himself, and he's not an excellent defender. He'd be a very good third or fourth option, but i just think he can't be the second guy on a contender.
Why would you just abandon your team philosophy of rebuilding all of a sudden? You will probably pick up a few vets and sacrifice a few young players, but I dont see you guys abandoning what your team was aiming for (which is putting young players around an all star) and giving up 3 or 4 of your young guys + picks for an all star. You only really need 1 all star. You should pick up more vets though. I would trade Wally if I were you. He has good trade value because he scored alot last year. I think you should trade for someone who can do more things..

Paul doesnt have eternity to wait for the young guys to develop. He needs some vet help. Wally isnt the answer. Package him+a young guy for a great player thats been in the league a while. It'll make Paul happy, and we'll start winning games. Take a look at the Heat who just won the championship.DWade = Youth, All Star, best player on the floor at all times.Shaq = Leader, All StarAntoine Walker = Solid VetPayton = Winner, and a good vetZo = Great vet, with a huge presence on the courtPosey = Vet with solid overal gameA team full of vets with one young superstarCeltics can easily become a team with lots of youth, but can have 2 superstars at the same time.Imagine if they traded Wally + like..Big Al and Powe, and Dwanye JonesYou get AI in return, theres another superstar, vet, leader, warrior all in 1! CONTENDERYou need vets to be able to contend for a title. But you can't do it with 1 star, and the rest just 20 year old guys..If your going to keep your young guys, you need to have 2 great vetern players..

I wouldn't mind giving up Green to get an all-star. But i'd want to keep Gomes, and probably Al Jefferson. I'd keep Telfair, i'd like to keep Delonte, but i'd be willing to split. Wally is pretty much gone anyways i believe. He just doesn't seem to fit.

What other team would be shopping? Unless you count Darius Miles as an all star, you wouldnt get much with those guys. Also, you cant just give up 3 or 4 guys in return for one..
