"Trent Edwards is proving that one man's trash can be another man's treasure.

Edwards was kicked to the curb Monday by the Buffalo Bills and is used to the same kind of criticism that David Garrard is getting in Jacksonville after two consecutive subpar games.

"I was getting flak in Buffalo," Edwards said Wednesday during his first day in Jacksonville after the Jaguars claimed him off the waiver wire.

"When you lose, the quarterback is going to get the flak, so it's understandable. When you don't win, it's tough. I've been through that."

Edwards will be the emergency quarterback behind David Garrard and Todd Bouman against Indianapolis on Sunday, but once Edwards is ready, the Jaguars would likely go to him if Garrard can't break out of his current slump.

Garrard didn't seem fazed by Edwards' arrival.

"They're going to do what they're going to do. I can't control that," Garrard said. "I've said that since the first day that I came in here until today. All that I can control is I have an opportunity this weekend, so I'm going to go out with all my ability, my passing and my faith and perform at the level I know I can."

As for dealing with the criticism, he said, "I really feel like I did a good job of not really listening to it, not hearing any of it. Obviously, it definitely happens when you start losing, but you've got to ignore it."

Meanwhile, Edwards is getting a fresh start, and Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio offered some positive reviews.

In Buffalo, coach Chan Gailey benched Edwards after two games and then cut him, but Del Rio has a different view."
