http://www.truth-out.org/goodbye-all-reflections-gop-operative-who-left-cult/1314907779 Points a lot of what some us have been saying. Republicans aren't doing what's best for the country and Democrats are compliant in it and spineless. But I already know how certain posters will respond. For those willing to take a serious look at the problem (or at least be open to the idea that certain economic groups are treated better than others) the article will be a good read. For those who seem to think it's unions, teachers and people making 60k a year doing "menial" jobs are ruing America I suggest you don't read it.
I'm not sure the group that takes the wants and needs of those who make millions and billions of dollars over the greater good of the country is necessarily the lesser of two evils though. Also, I can't tell if you're intentionally saying "error" when you mean err or not, but I chuckled.
Yep, error is correct. I'm probably more of an Independent these days, but I've always been for the least amount of government as "possible". If the people - as a whole - could just step up and do what's right (relatively speaking), we could have just that. Ain't gonna happen, though. That's why we end up getting more and more government - to help do the work of/for the unwilling/incompetent/criminal/illegal.........
Read the article- YAAAAAWN! Usual crap from the usual suspects. I mean, every left is a socialist who wants to enslave the common people and every righty is a bis business honk who wants to deny people any help so they'll die. Please. Both sides have a lot of very good and decent public servants as well as self serving bastards. This is yet another lackie with an axe to grind. I'm sure his kiss & tell book will be coming out soon. Someone PM me when there's real news afoot.
I think we might be seeing things close to the same. I don't see government size as the issue. I see who has an unequal amount of power as the problem. the super religious, the super conservative, the corrupt and the super rich. I know people like to say the "liberals" are "ruining America" and have a lot of power, but they aren't and they don't. Who is a big powerful liberal and what have they done that is so bad? I know "obamacare" is a talking points response, but I think a lot of that is anecdotal PLUS it wasn't really a "liberal" driven policy. AND its odd how the cost of the wars (one of which was totally unnecessary and actually against republican and conservative theory) are much easier for some to swallow then trying to get health care for those who need it. The programs that people complain about (read: blame on liberals) tend to be smaller costs then the volume of the argument should be. That's not to say there haven't been wasteful or poorly run programs suggested by and passed by more liberal politicians. But they're an easy target to distract people from what really causes government issues. I think it's similar to seeing someone who constantly buys new cars, on credit, and is continually living on credit debt. Then their younger brother decides he wants to buy something on his credit card and they flip out and act like their brother is being irresponsible and he should handle all his budget issues for him. So he creates a month long budget for him to follow, but it cancels his dish, health insurance, he'll have to start shopping at the discount food store instead of a local store, limiting his trips in his car and stop using his furnace or AC. Meanwhile, he continues with his top level dish network contract, continues to drive his gas guzzler, shops only at the high end market, drives superfluously, and has his health care provided to him because of his job. i don't know whats worse, one who claims to be frugal but continues to waste money (and condemns others for wasting money) or the one who wastes money and tries to at least make things better (and does little to nothing to change their spending).
It appeared that you didn't read the article. He wasn't a democrat "lackie", he was a republican. He blamed both sides and accused both of not doing whats best of the country. But thanks for being one of the ones who actually responded exactly how i thought they would.
I skimmed the article. It was caustic and there was nothing new in it. Mostly fiction and opinion. I guess it's just that I seem to read that stuff all the time anymore. It's part of the problem and not the solution. I'd like to see more about what can be done to bring both sides together and trying to solve the real problems we have. I might also say it was an article I knew a poster like you would post. I guess we're all too predictable.
try reading it instead of skimming it. it does make a difference. like I said, you responded exactly as I expected to you (and your response above was exactly what I expected too). Papag is next.
I know people like that........both types. Actually, I shouldn't laugh. It's sad, really. My 5th grade teacher always said....with freedom(s) comes responsibility. It's a simple adage, but yet so very, very true. Too bad many don't combine the two. The Washington analogy might be.....with power comes accountability. But, yet, who will guard the guardians(???)
Well, that is always a good point. No offense, but I do find it amusing when people are wrong about me. I respect you, but you really have no idea.
I wasn't wrong about you. I said it helps to read it, you lied and said you read it and I called you out on it and then you admitted you skimmed it and passed judgement on it without actually reading it. You know, doing exactly what I said you did. Not sure what part of that makes me wrong about you.
