This is from the LA Times...I don't have a link, but I'm sure this will show up sooner or later on either ESPN or FoxSports...who knows. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Tomjanovich has long been a fan of Bryant's game, a notion that was confirmed as he watched Bryant during recent workouts. "Hakeem [Olajuwon], Clyde [Drexler] were amazing and professional. This guy's at another level," Tomjanovich said. "I used to read about the Larry Bird workouts, how they would take place over and over, doing this and that. That's how Kobe is. "There are players that their talent allows them to be lax in [certain] areas. I don't see 1% of that in this guy at all." Jordanesque? "Very much so," Tomjanovich said. "I feel good about having a great player like Kobe, and I like the work ethic I've seen of these guys who are coming in a couple weeks early," he said. "It's really a new era. Everything we start building is a positive.</div> Sounds like a great relationship between the coach and Bryant, one that already looks promising than Phil/Kobe. I'm really glad that Rudy T took over...I thought Phil was amazing, but I've liked Rudy Tomjanovich ever since he began coaching the Rockets. I wonder how he'll treat the rest of the team. By the looks of it, he really likes Kobe, and he likes Karl Malone (see other threads), so I'm ready for this season to get underway.
I don't question Rudy T's ability to connect with his players. My main concern is his X's and O's. I was never really impressed with his offensive schemes. During the latter end of his tenure in Houston, it was "iso this, iso that." With the zone defenses now, that offense got old real quick. During his championship seasons, it was into Hakeem and out for 3pt shots all day. Granted my memory is a bit hazy, but I remember those rockets shot a load of 3's, something these Lakers can't do due to personnel. I'm not trying to take anything away from the man, but I have my concerns. Coach Tomjanovich has a lot to prove IMO

I bet the team, as a whole, will have a better say in what offense they'd like to run most of the time. Haha...Hakeem to Mario Elie, Hakeem to Sam Cassell...Robert Horry for three...Matt Maloney, from beyond the arc...geez.

It'll be more Mavs/Kings style run and gun and there'll be lots of pick and rolls coming for Bryant.
