Allen Iverson said he told HYB Entertainment that he would not be able to appear at a summer youth rally in Omaha and that he would deal with being sued by the company for his absence.

"I alerted them that I wasn't going to make it," Iverson said Thursday. "The situation is what it is. They knew I wasn't going to be there. So, it's another one of those things."

Iverson is being sued for $44,000, which includes a deposit made to secure Iverson's appearance and money for a private jet.

A release provided to The Associated Press from Iverson's CrossOver Promotions, which handles his appearances, on Wednesday said "unforeseen circumstances" because of a family emergency were the reason Iverson was not able to appear.
