I just don't think it works. I wouldn't want to trade any of our major pieces. If we could trade luke babbit straight up I would say yes. I think Nash is washed up. I really like what this team is doing and I would really like to see what they can do together the entire season.
Simmons has been on the Nash to PDX wagon for a while now. I'd trade Felton for Nash. That's about it.
Just doesn't make much sense. Nash would be great but I'm excited on our ability to handle quick guards. Can Nash even guard a quick pg? And he makes too much money. Who can we even trade? I think Phoenix will want something young in return. And I'm worried about losing chemistry. But fuck it's Steve Nash. That dude is a proven stud and most of its between the ears.
This kind of trade would signal one thing and that would be, "this year or bust." If we were more solidified at the 5 spot or even if we had a young point guard we felt was maybe a year or two away from being a really good starter I could see it. But trading for Nash and giving up whatever it would take to land him, doesn't feel like a very good strategy for keeping LA happy in another 2 years when it's really going to matter. This team still feels like it's 2 or 3 significant trades/signings away from being able to not just get out of the first round, but actually having the firepower to compete with true contending level teams like the Bulls and Heat. They're not one ghost of Steve Nash away.
Can Nash do what now? What is this "guard" you speak of? As for him being "Steve Nash the proven stud," I don't think that's going to last much longer.

If Phoenix wants to tank I'd give up Babbitt, Nolan Smith, Elliot Williams and a future draft pick. Is that within the $5mil salary window? I don't know if I'd be willing to give up Felton and I doubt Phoenix would even care about having him for a one year rental. If they want to rebuild they need young potential and draft picks. Sucking this year could move them up in the lotto. Would any team be willing to give up terribly much more for Nash? He probably goes to NY in the offseason regardless. Nash and Felton would be a great PG rotation, but I really wouldn't want Nash as our only PG, he can't defend a chair and should be playing less than 30mpg.
One of the great things so far this season has been the tenacity we have brought on both sides of the court. With Nash he might make us better on the offensive end (Not sure because this team looks to be gelling fairly well) but on the defensive end he will get abused. I'm not keen on Giving up Felton either, I like what i'v seen and defiantly want to look at keeping him long term.
I've watched Nash play twice this year. Both times he was absolutely awful on both ends of the court! Felton > Nash Pains me to say it too, Nash was one of my favorite all time players.
Well at some point you have to hit a wall. He's almost 38. His All-Star days are behind him and I'm not sure if this super intensive schedule will go well for a guy that old.
Portland is winning with defense. I think if they were to make any move at the point, they should look to bring in a defensive minded PG, not Nash. If we are going to really try to make a deep run, and I still don't think we are built to do so, we should try to acquire a big who can defend and rebound
It seems like the main way we are getting burned defensively is players, mainly point guards, penetrating right down the middle. So aside from Oden making a comeback that clogs up the middle and stops that threat, a defensive PG would be nice. But they still need to have the threat a jumper. I dont think there is a lot of those players with that combo much less available. So here is to hoping that Felton continues to improve and we can play great team defense.
Would much rather target rondo but since the only relevant piece id give up is felton and I dont see a " felton, babbit, e.will, two firsts and overseas guys" getting it done I think we will stick with armon all year.
Honestly I would try to make a push for him without giving up Felton. Maybe he wouldn't go for it, but I think Nash would be great coming off the bench providing tempo, shooting, and experience.
Nah, I really don't see that happening. If he's going to play bench PG on a team with title aspirations he would need to be behind somebody who is clearly entrenched as the starter. Even if Felton is slightly better than the current version of Nash, the gap between them isn't wide enough for Felton to feel very comfortable about his job and we'd probably end up with a pretty tense situation.
