Is today the day that TO becomes a Dallas Cowboy? (sigh). There is lots of talk around Dallas, starting with some player and ex-player interviews last Friday. Sounds like it is a definite possibility.

I've been unimpressed with F/A so far, given the promise of aggressiveness, but it seems we got a decent LB, some OL depth, and Vinatieri is still negotiating in Dallas.

The Cowboys are my second favorite team, next to the Titans, of course.

However, I'd like to see them sign TO sometime today, that'd be nice. Although, he brings some controversy with him, I think that if anyone can whip him into line, it'll be Parcells. Plus, with the problems of Keyshawn's contract, it only makes sense.

I talked to the station in Lubbock last night, which was kind of interesting for me. I'd never done that before. They were breaking a story that TO is coming to the Cowboys. ESPN said that TO's people are denying it, but here is what I found out. Word is that there will be an announcement of more than one signing before or on Monday.

    1) Yes, Terrell Owens has agreed in principle with the Dallas Cowboys. This means that he has agreed, verbally to a deal. He has not signed a contract yet, which means he could technically change his mind and back out (for one reason or another). The chances of that occuring are very small, especially considering there aren't many teams willing to take him on.

    2) The report in Ft. Worth Star-Telegram indicating the Cowboys have denied the report "on the record" means nothing more than the paper does not have the sources to get this information. At this point, you are best served to ignore it. They asked the people with the Cowboys who have to give answers "on the record" and those were the answers they simply had to give. Again, you best served to ignore the report the Star-Telegram.

    3) This story was broken by the CBS affliate in Lubbock, Texas Thursday evening. The report was believed to be incorrect initially as Drew Roesenhaus and sources close to Owens flat out denied it to protect the Cowboys. TheRanchReport.com confirmed however late last night that the report was indeed accurate. Owens has agreed in principle.

    4) The one thing we are not sure on at this point is the timing of an announcement. The Cowboys want to wait until Jerry is back in the country from St. Barts. That could be later this weekend, or early next week or anytime between now and Monday.

Well, Dallas will benefit for one year. Beyond that, though, be careful...

Look out Super Bowl Here We Come! A press conference is scheduled for 2.30 p.m (cst) to announce owens is as a Cowboy. I dont like him, but neither do opposing teams. Better we have him than someone else. H'ell be a good boy, for a while anyway. His health is what concerns me. He's been hurt every year for three years in a row. Finally! A big time reciever to get the defenses out of the eight men in the box strategy. Everybody on offense benefits from that. I cant wait for the first philly Cowboys game next year when they find out what they could have had. Go Cowboys.

Philly knew what they had; that is why they suspended and eventually released him.

you know they WISH they could have handled TO. his talent isn't in question. He's a first class turd of an individual but the most talented first class turd available and exactly at the positon we need. parcells will keep him straight. It was providence i tell you. it was meant to be. just please let him be healthy the whole season and SB here we come. we also bolstered the offensive line. and linebackers on defense. bring on the g-men and the 4-skins. philly is in the crapper and likely to stay there now.

    Here we go ...
    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE ("Jim Rome)</div><div class='quotemain'>3-21-2006

The ink wasn?t even dry on Terrell Owens? new Dallas Cowboys contract before he started cracking on his former employer, the Philadelphia Eagles. And TWO hit them with a double barrel blast, crushing them in a rap song he dropped on his website and will also tee them up in a book due out in July.

TWO talks junk about getting paid in his rap, ?When it comes to this game, I?m the best in the field, some said I was gonna sign just a one year deal, but I got what I wanted up front, 10 mil, changed the rules of the game, so now how you feel??

Actually, I feel great, TWO thanks for asking.

Translated: It?s not about team, it?s about getting mine. It?s about getting paid. It?s about what it?s always been about TWO? And it?s starting already. I mean, how long has the guy been there, an hour? Two hours? The guy tears up a locker room, is so toxic they pay him to stay home, gets run off, stays down long enough to get a new deal and the very second he gets paid, he goes nuclear on his former team. Way to turn the page, TWO, I knew you didn?t have it in you.</div>

Well i cant wait to see what this ignerent wide reciver has up his sleave this year. I mean if he went off on a quaterback of Mcnabbs calibear what do you think he is going to do to a quaterback like Bledsoe when he isnt throwing the ball to him. I love how you cowboys fans go from hating a wider reciever because of his little dance to celebrating his sign with your team. I just cant wait to watch the cowboys slowly die off just as the eagles did. now i wanna hear what you have to say about T.O. I wil admit to you i loved when T.O came to my team a good qb a good wr i was so happy but after seing what he did to the team i watched for so long i just coulnt helo but dispise him. And alot of peopel are saying that it will be different that he wont get his money if he talks crap. I just want to tell all of you cowboys fans that believe in this thoery i have been there and done that and i will tell you right now all the things he said in that press confrence about how "Hes a changed man" and "He will be good this time" its all lies i can garuntee you that right now. He kinda reminds me of a little kid you knwo how a kid gets in trouble and tell shis momo or dad that they are sorry and will never do it again well you know a week later they will be doing the same thing and this doesent change till they grow up and get mature well thats what T.O has to do. Good lcuk with your new member i just hope he doesent destroy your team worse then mine so we have something to destroy also [IMG]

First of all, don't lump people together like this. There are plenty of Cowboys fans that are not at all excited about this choice. I guess you didn't read the heavy sigh in the first post.

I don't think the Eagles are as down and out as they appeared last year. They will be a force this year. As for Dallas, I don't think they have as far to fall as the Eagles. TO may very well prove to be harmful to Dallas, but it wasn't like Dallas was knocking on the door of the Superbowl last year.

Those of you that know me know that I will never defend TO or like what he did. However, the best perspective I can look at it is this: Could Philadelphia have possibly made it to the Superbowl without Owens? Maybe...they were at least close and on the right track. With Keyshawn and Terry Glenn another year older, and injury-prone, do you think Dallas would have made the Superbowl this year without Owens? Not likely. Oh, they would be competitive, but its clear they wouldn't be anywhere near conference favorites. So, do you want to lose...or risking winning a couple more games versus the potential crap he brings with him? (Notice I didn't say they were conference favorites or Superbowl contenders with him).

This is the best Dallas could do this year without throwing some draft picks away. I didn't see a huge FA market for WRs. Dallas maybe could have traded a 3rd or so to Green Bay to pick up a younger, good player, but there werent a lot of options.

I don't think precludes Dallas from picking up a WR in the draft, but it certainly means they don't have to waste their 1st rounder on a weak WR class.

Whether its SF, Philly, or Dallas - everyone has to realize that Owens may be smart in some ways, but he's an idiot. Once everyone gets passed that and magnifying him by giving him the spotlight, his antics have much less effect.

When my kids were small and would throw a fit, I'd just leave the room. They quickly learned it doesn't work. Fortunately, I don't have the media there to capture and prolong it. [IMG]
