http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2008/11/lamarcus_aldridges_puzzling_sl.html Much has been discussed on this already. I believe the game just needs to slow down again for him.
Don't Nate, Roy, LMA and Quick know that we're 9-6? What are they talking about, "slump"? How dare they criticize themselves and another player? [/sarcasm]
TRANSLATION....dont expect playoffs this year. f'in nate already settling for another lottery McMillan said the struggles Aldridge is enduring is an example of what he is talking about when he speaks to this season still being part of the rebuilding process. "This is part of the development," McMillan said. "You keep working on it. It's not that you wait it out, it's not that I'm nervous, it's part of the growth of this team and these guys learning how to play. This is Year 2 of him ... learning to make decisions. But we know what he is capable of doing." At some point, they -- Roy, Aldridge, McMillan -- think it will come together.
blazers favorite phrase use to be "playoffs" now...its "wait till next year" which seems acceptable to our fans after 6 years of no playoffs i see this too often as a buffalo bills fan gross
Some of us feel slighted by Aldridges' struggles and others of us feel badly for the him (I'm in the latter camp). I hope he figures it out soon, because I think he's a good guy that tries to play the right way and because I know he's capable of better. On the other hand at lest he's still playing decent D and has gotten (slightly) better at digging out boards.
I think everyone knows he is in a slump. Some people here take it to the "Trade him" "I can't believe he is getting paid like the #2 overall pick" etc... extremes.
And if he continues to be dogged on the boards and try on D, you won't get the type of posts out of me that you see about Outlaw or Blake or Sergio or Frye or (last year) Jack. Effort's big to me. I still submit that, going forward, if one of the Big Three goes it's going to be (and probably should be) LMA. I think Dallas wants him in a bad way, and he wants to go there. But I'm not saying bench him or cut him or trade him for an expiring or somehting.
I think one thing LA has going for him is being close to Brandon. If they're as close as they say, Brandon should be trying to convince him on a daily basis that he's not getting it done on a lot of different aspects of his game.
Nate has already said many times if the team doesn't make the playoffs the season will considered a failure. In the above quote he is only talking about LA. As is evidenced by our record, we don't need LA to win. I am curious, though. If you hate the team so much, why keep watching? There has to be better things to do with your time.
What I find intersting when players slump is you find out which posters support which players. There seem to be many who critiize Outlaw as being inconsistent but pump up Sergio???? Some critize LA but say Rudy is just going through a slump . . . and visa versa. Well it doesn't sound interesting when I type it out . . . but I've noticed posters will rationalize their favorite players poor perfromances and jump all over "non-favorite" players for poor performances.
haha funny I am a Bills fan too. For years and years. And a Braves fan. But it's crybaby wussy fans like you with all this bad energy that makes our teams lose. Gotta stay positive bro. All I see is you crying all over the place. Get a girlfriend man lol
while i agree a positive attitude is great and desireable for everyone but to say my or any other fans attitude has a direct result on the team and their play is idiotic. i would like to see all the wussy crybaby fans STFU and roll with the season. LMA will figure it out and Roy at some point will go in a slump and someone else will carry us.
Nowhere in that entire arcticle did Nate mention not making the play-offs. That's just your own overly negative paraphrasing of his comments. In fact, part of the growing process he mentions is MAKING the play-offs. That's an example of growth and improvement - which is exactly what Nate was talking about. You sure have an astonishing ability to put a negative spin on EVERYTHING. I guess you're just an "every silver lining has a cloud" kind of guy. In spite of Aldridge's slump, Martell's injury, Oden's injury/inconsistent play and the difficult schedule the team is still 9-6 and definitely in the play-off hunt. But, if you find that depressing, I guess that's just a "you problem". While some of the individual performances have been underwhelming the team is having success and that's the most important metric and I'm quite happy with the results. BNM
