    Opening the 2003-04 NBA Season without Karl Malone and John Stockton for the first time in nearly 20 years, the Utah Jazz were expected to follow the rebuilding mode of teams like the Bulls, Celtics, and Lakers when their superstars left for retirement or other teams.
    But what took place was a new blueprint for post-superstar success. This Season?s Jazz team compiled a group of rookies, inexperienced talent, and veterans to come within a single game of reaching the playoffs for the 21st consecutive season.
    Opening the year against the Portland Trail Blazers at home, the Jazz displayed a mix of youthful energy and poise, wining a close game, 99-92. Carlos Arroyo became only the third Jazz player, since 1998, to start at point guard for the Jazz.
