even though it is hard to think about playing,
i spend every night on my knees just praying,
for all those suffering, young and old,
and to my friends in that black and gold.

you see, you represent the best city in the world,
and are heroes to little boys and girls,
one day God was a little busy in 1967,
He was creating dem Saints up there in heaven.

whether good or bad, we cheer for you on every sunday,
and second guess you guys on every monday,
we support you whether you win or lose,
bourbon street still has echoes of the sweet sounding blues.

the city is hurting, wounded and lost,
the rebuilding will come at an astounding cost,
for some , there seems like there is just no hope,
but with God's love we will all learn to cope.

the black on your uniforms tells us of the sorrow,
the gold on your helmet brings light for a better tomorrow,
the symbol of hope for the world to see,
lies upon the gold....the fleur de lis....

it represents this city and the greatest of fans,
all it's beauty, charm and all the jazz bands,
we love you guys and wish you the best,
for this year will surely put you to the test

do your best and play your hearts out,
in your soul you'll hear the echoes of nawlins shout,
from practice, meetings and pre game meals,
we hope to see you hoisting a trophy on ford field.

you guys can give us something special this year,
to hoot , holler , shout and cheer
no it isn't about winning the games...
it is about representing the NEW ORLEANS name.

God Bless and hope you guys have a great season

Let's hope they don't "cut and run" like the NOPD! The NFL doesn't need the Los Angeles Saints.

I guess I just don't get the joke. Some members of the NOPD did leave New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hit. They were left in some of the most horrible conditions that any cop has ever faced. The city is 80% underwater. Some of them faced armed mobs with no way to call for back up. However, to make a sweeping generalization that the NOPD cut and run is grossly unfair to the brave men and women who stood their ground. I find it funny that some conservatives cry over criticism leveled at Bush and the federal goverment for moving slow, but have no problem laughing at the people who are the victims of Hurricane Katrina, but that's a conversation for the Barbershop.

The Saints aren't going anywhere. The owner has publically declared his intention for his team to be part of the restoration process for New Orleans.

BB&G, that's a cool poem. Did you write that yourself or did you find it somewhere?

I could have posted the video of N.O. officers looting, but I thought this would be more educational. It's an article from 2001 explaining just what happened and that it was just a matter of time. To blame FEMA or "W" is just outragious. The "Thanks for nothing" signature motivated my initial post regarding the NOPD.

    Zackman,

This may be new since you came back, but we have a forum to discuss stuff like this. You should go over to http://www.barber-shop-talk.com to discuss this especially since there is a tread started over there already on this subject.

Duly noted and saved in my favorites. Are political signatures allowed here? Since that's what started this, I thought I should ask.

What political signature are we talking about? BB&G, the author of this thread, doesn't have one. I know Eagles4Life has a signature that makes fun of Bush, but that's over at the Barbershop. His signature is different here.

I don't know about you guys but I am mad at the NFL for a cheap yes cheap 1 million dollar donation to the funding to help out the New Orleans citizens. Now a rumor leaks out about moving the team for good. What must be going through the poor minds of those people is anyones guess. I have a good one though. Nothing Good! I and most people have problems in our current lives but nothing more than what those people in New Orleans,Mississippi and other southern states have had to endure maybe in our lifetime. For me the NFL is great to watch and I respect the game so much but the donation and the NFL "people" cheap asses is something I've lost respect for. I heard a good point on I think it was PTI. Major league Baseball donated 2 million and they don't have a team there. The NFL 1 million. Now for a Billion+ dollar organization to donate 1 or 2 million is Cheap in my opinion. I hope more is to come but the MLB doesn't even have a team and they donated more than the NFL. As for the Saints in general I hope the worse case sceniro to play out is that they become the Louisana Saints and play at Baton Rouge. That way the people in Louisana and even Mississippi have something good to chear about and get their spirits up. Moving the team out of the state would kill the spirits of the sports fans in Louisana. I know I can't imagine how boring life in Wisconsin would be like without the Packers especially if a Tornado or such ripped through Green Bay! I am not high on the Saints but I will be pulling for them in every game they don't play the Packers or Vikings this season.
