http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/2/2/u-s-abortion-ratesatlowestinfourdecades.html Everyone can agree this is a good thing. =]
If we only spent a fraction of the energy in the past 30 years wasted on this debate and put it into free contraception.....but it was never really about reducing abortions, it was about winning elections.
Whether you're for or against, it's hard to believe anyone wouldn't like hearing this news. Go Blazers
Unless people that want them cannot get them. Agree if the decrease is due to fewer unwanted pregnancies.
Yes, when due to better access to contraception. Too bad small government conservatives are trying to ban it. Or make women get employer's permission. No, when due to no facilities or women being unable to come up with the additional hundreds of dollars for forced vaginal probes mandated by small government conservatives. Funny, hearing all this "government out of my health care" from the same people who want government in my health care.
I wonder how much is attributable to the massive tidal wave of cheap, easily accessible porn over the past 12 years. - Seems to have made many much more open to the idea of *ahem* alternative forms of intercourse that don't lead to pregnancy. - If a teenage boy is shooting his load 12 times/day to Jenna Jamison, his gun is going to be less loaded for making babies with his girlfriend. - Porn videos take pretty much all of the mystery out of sex. A kid might be more willing to listen to the sex ed classes attentively if he's been looking at double penetrations since he was 11. I remember cobbling info together from a couple tattered playboys, an awkward conversation with my mom (oh sweet jesus) and some grimey overhead projector slides in 6th grade. Kids these days have seen videos, lots of videos, of condoms in action long before they actually get to try one out.
We have more Hispanics than ever in the us and lord knows they do not abort so naturally the rates have declined.
