Adrian Peterson's comeback now includes an ESPY. The Minnesota Vikings' star running back won the Best Comeback award Wednesday night at the 21st ESPYS in Los Angeles. Nine months removed from torn ACL surgery, Peterson recorded 2,097 rushing yards for the Vikings this past season, second most in NFL history. Earlier in the night, Peterson won an ESPY for Best NFL Player. Fan voting was done online and was based on performances spanning the past 12 months. Colin Kaepernick, who started the NFL season for the sidelines before helping the San Francisco 49ers to a spot in the Super Bowl, won the ESPY for Best Breakthrough Athlete. The awards show was hosted by "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm, who took some shots at some of the world's best athletes in his opening monologue. On Dwight Howard, who recently bolted the Los Angeles Lakers for the Houston Rockets via free agency, he said, "He's leaving L.A. I guess he finally found a way to help the Lakers win." And on New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, whose name has been linked to the Biogenesis scandal, he said, "There are rumors that MLB is going to suspend A-Rod after the All-Star break. But that's OK; Yankees fans are used to him not showing up in the second half." LeBron James of the Miami Heat was up for his second straight ESPY for Best Male Athlete. Earlier, he received ESPYS for NBA Player of the Year and Best Championship Performance. - See more at: http://espn.go.com/espys/2013/story...son-minnesota-vikings-wins-espy-best-comeback
