Well, now that I'm moderator and can ban anyone who makes fun of me, it is time for me to make confession: I've never been to a Bulls game. But that's gonna change this year, God willing. My wife was involved in a fund raiser this year, and one of the donations for bidding was four tickets to a Bulls game (with some obvious but not precise restrictions). People in my town love baseball wayyyyy more than basketball, and so some Cardinals tickets got the big attention, and I was able to win the bid for the tickets! So awesome! I'm trying to stay cool and not obsess too much about them. Anyway, I called the contact person in the bulls org, and they said that I should choose 4 games that I'd like to attend, and they would give me what they could. They said Lakers and Heat games are off limits, no surprise there. I asked, well, what about Boston? She seemed to leave that door open. Anyway, I'm in the process of choosing which of four games I'd like to attend with my kids. Clearly, as a college prof located about 4.5 hrs from downtown Chicago, I'm looking for something on the weekend or during winter break. The Boston game on Jan 8th does the trick. But there are a few others that look interesting, such as Philadelphia on the 21st of dec. (my kids might still have school that day), or Milwaukee on the 28th or the Clippers on the 18th of Dec. Utah on the 12th of March might work (spring break), but my oldest son wants to travel during that time, I think. Here's my initial thought: Boston Jan 8 Milwaukee Dec 28 Phil Dec 21 Utah March 12 or LAC Dec 18th Thoughts on that order or are there other games you'd really recommend as a nice basketball matchup (even without marquee names)? Thanks! (and remember, banning for the slightest mockery or derision!)
3-1 I expect them to win against Boston, Philly and Utah (or LAC), but lose to Milwaukee. But honestly, I don't care too much. I just want to see a good, interesting and hard fought game (you know, I'm one of the Reinsdorf stooges who appreciates hard working players over obnoxious talent. What do I win if I'm right?
Perhaps you could start another thread about your experience in obtaining tickets by other means? That would at least be constructive and possibly entertaining.
Somehow this reminds me of celebrity Jeopardy Thanks for playing! I'll certainly take your advice next time, but this time, my first time, I have tickets at significantly below face value with some restrictions on which game I can use them for, and was asking for some friendly advice on which games to see, given those restrictions.
Those seem like good bets to me. Nothing else jumped out at me as obviously better, at least. Question: do they have to be home games? You're south of Chicago, right? You could cut your drive and come to Indy. Of course, you can usually get Pacers tickets pretty cheap in any case, so it's probably not worth it, but it could be an option if travel is a problem.
South yes, but more West. Indy is about 5 hrs away. And yes, home games only. My son is intrigued to see Kevin Garnett, and my daughter is even interested in seeing Shaq, so I'll definitely list Boston first and hope. But Milwaukee's a good back up, I think, even if not as name-worthy. The Philly game is too early (kids aren't out of school). Somebody over at bbf recommended looking later in the schedule, which I will, but kids' schedules are always so tricky at their ages. I might just go NJ and Cleve for three and four. I hope Boozer gets healthy and stays that way
