Peyton and company will be there, but who else? 1. Jacksonville Jaguars- I love this team, Gararrd looked good last year, Jones Drew and Taylor as well, and the defense is always solid and then some, I like this team for possibly the big game. 2. Indianapolis Colts- This team could very well be at number 1 on this list, but with the questions on Marvin Harrison's health, you just can't be sure if guys like Anthony Gonzalez can do what they did last year. 3. Tennessee Titans- I like all the teams in this division, I just like Jacksonville and Indianapolis more than Vince Young and company. They have a legit shot at making the playoffs, but it will be very tough with the competition they are facing. 4. Houston Texans- I actually like what Houston has to offer, as long as Ahman Green and Matt Schuab stay healthy, they could be alright. Not playoff bound, but not bad.
Colts get the top spot for one reason....Manning, then it'll be Jaguars for the 2nd spot and I agree that they're a very good team and that they're going to be competing for the superbowl this upcoming season. As for the third and fourth spot, too hard to say for me right now, but I'll go with Texans 3rd and Titans being last.
I thought the Colts' offense was beautiful even without Harrison. The problem the Colts need to worry about is pass rush (staying healthy in other words, Mathis and Freeney got injured), that's what cost them their playoff game. Since Dwight is healthy again, and we drafted well, I'll continue to put them at the top spot. The Colts actually have some projects at WO that they were developing last year (Roy Hall, etc.) and nice depth. I love what they did with the RBs as well, we have incredible depth with Rhodes, Hart, and Addai.
Let's talk about the AFC South some. Anyone else worried about the Jags (lack) of pass rush. I do think they added some excellent prospects in Harvey and Groves. And then, they lost McCray to New Orleans?
I've got Indy, Jax, Tenn and then Houston as the order. For me, Vince Young needs to take a major step forward as a passer this season for the Titans to develop into a serious playoff threat. As for the Jags, even though he killed my Steelers in the playoffs, I'm still not a believer in David Garrard as a championship QB.
Honestly, I am not expecting much. That holdout was killer; Jax needed to get a pass rush now. Harvey will likely be ok in situations where he's told to get upfield and rush... but what about recognizing the run on not so obvious passing downs? Technique, too. He is going to have to rely on his speed rush a lot this year.... Indy wins the division. Jax gives them all they can handle.
