In a piece of discouraging news, Gegard Mousasi, possibly the best Middle Weight not in the UFC, has signed with affliction, where he has to deal with washed up Vitor Belfort and an aging Matt Lindland who's more busy running for office in Oregon right now. Mousasi just finished an impressive run in Dream winning the MW Grand Prix be defeating Dennis Kang, Melvin Manhoef (sending him to retirement) and Jacare Souza. A potential fight between Mousasi and Anderson Silva may have kept Silva interested in fighting at 185. To top it all off, Mousasi trains with Red Devil International, Fedor Emelianenko's training team. So you know he's training hard and learning tons from Fedor. I wonder if this means Dream is in trouble or is this cross promotion going on?
Neither DREAM nor Affliction have guys signing exclusive contracts so it doesn't preclude Mousasi from fighting in the UFC, but for all intensive purposes, he won't be. Mostly because he's represented by Finkelstein (Fedor's manager) who is supposedly out of his mind.
