The Blazers were: 13-2 in 1999-00 12-3 in 1998-99 14-1 in 1990-91 12-3 in 1989-90 12-3 in 1977-78 and 13-2 in 2013. Thanks jlprk for the link.
I was calling us the 1999 team and people laughed. So far, we are at it's pace. Who's laughing now bitches?!?!
Wow. I've seen lots of stats, but that one is really quite convincing. I may have to finally move my ass off of Pessimism Point. It may be time to drink the Flavor-Aid.
You should definitely start out with the Flavor-Aid, before moving up to the hard stuff. And don't try to match Mag's Kool-Aid intake right away. That much Kool-Aid without building up the proper tolerance could kill a normal man.
Im amazed at how well the season is going. I don't know exactly why or how we are THAT much better than last year. But I am sure someone will tell me.
Hell yes! We're only 5 games away from the point of the season when Nik passes judgement on the team. At worst we'll be 13-7. I wonder what he'll say!
Even though he wasn't there tonight, Mo has been a good leader and scorer off the bench that we desperately needed. I honestly consider him to be the number one reason. Then there's Lopez who boxes out, defends the rim, and plays unselfishly. Then there's Stotts who has created a winning system that works to our strengths. And finally Wes Matthews has simply upped his game and is playing with an attitude that serves well his game as well as the team.
Great thing about this streak is that we have a blueprint for greatness at home and on the road. If this team falters midseason, they will always have confidence that they can get back to playing like this. Confidence confidence confidence. If we were 8-7 instead, we'd be mired in that 7-13th seeded mess. Lad we're ahead of all those guys early on.
The interesting thing about it all is that the power of the "Negative Nancys" and the "Huge Homers" increases with each win or rather the better the record gets because as the record gets better the size of the meltdown needed to miss the playoffs gets bigger and bigger (which is awesome as it becomes less and less likely to have that meltdown as we get better ). Its becoming more and more polarizing and the backlash is going to be amazing to watch. The NN's are so hell bent on saying I told you so that when the Blazers lose 2 in a row or hell even one in a row the "I told you so" around here is going to be crazy. Its like the perfect storm brewing and the riot level chaos is going to be pure sweet entertainment. In the end I say go Blazers and I will enjoy my team in the here and now and worry about tomorrow - tomorrow. Im not a owner, GM or coach so I can do that.
I think this team is mentally strong enough to take a loss (or even a few losses in a row) and not go into a free fall. LA and Dame as our two leaders are pretty even keeled out there. And Stotts isn't letting the streak get to their heads. He's easily my vote for COY so far this year
That 99 team was something to behold. It was like two starting lineups. They came in waves like hockey substitutions.
