The Warriors entered Wednesday's game with a 22-28 record. Last year, the Warriors were 23-27 after 50 games. ... Speedy Claxton had started the previous 13 games at point guard for the Warriors. He has averaged 16 points and 6.2 assists during that stretch. ... The Warriors don't play again until next Wednesday, when they host the Los Angeles Lakers.
Last year, I honestly thought they were going to make the playoffs, but they just collapsed the last 10 games.
Trading Cliff would get him to the playoffs easier than with this team, this year. I think we are better this year than last year. We are only 1 game off of last year's pace, but we had that horrid stretch struggling with NVE's knee. Now that that has passed, we are digging ourselves out of that hole with Speedy's spectacular play.

This is the point last year where they began playing real good basketball but couldn't finish the season off right. Hopefully they end on a good note this year and put a scare into some of the Western Conference teams late in the season.
I think with the starting PG situation solved (start Speedy!!), we can definitely see that winning run happening. Foyle is coming back and should get better as the season progresses. I don't know how long Murphy is out with his foot injury, but with a Robinson/Cardinal/Damp/Foyle frontline, we should be fine for a while. Van Exel can take his time coming back and bring him off the bench as the spark, much like Boykins was for us last year.
I still think we just draft a point guard, if there are no quality big men because you know Speedy has bad luck with injuries.
I'm all for drafting a point guard and hopefully letting Avery Johnson become a coach for this team although I'm not quite familiar with who's coming out of school besides Ben Gordon.

Okafor is a very smart guy so you know he's going to be a better player because of it. Remember when Chris Webber called a timeout when there were no timouts left? With 11 seconds to play in the 1993 NCAA championship game his team - Michigan - was down by 2 points to Duke. It's a situation in which a team would usually call a timeout to set a play, and Webber came down the floor and signaled "T". But the Wolverines had already used all their timeouts. They lost the game on the ensuing technical foul. Hoo boy what a collossal dumbass in that game.
Okafor is a smart guy. 3.9 GPA? That's seriously crazy, even more so playing a sport at the same time.
I'm up for drafting Jameer Nelson. The risk of Speedy getting injured, and NVE trying to lead this team scares me.
I went to nbadraft.net's profile on Ben Gordon and saw that he's more of a tweener? And carmelo15, is Nelson more of a pass-first point?

Get Jameer Nelson, he makes his team better, is great all around or if it comes down to it, get Raymond Felton. I think Raymond will be decent as he seems to do everything a good point guard should do along with super hops, quickness, and the ability to dunk.
The only thing I worry about Jameer Nelson is his height, 5'11. The warriors would have two short point guards. I'd like for them to get a bigger guard. I think everytime you pick someone who is short, your taking a gamble even if they look good in college. Kinda of like Tj Ford. The bigger players of the NBA are going to make it harder for him to be effective. Also I think it depends if NVE is healthy and doesn't opt out. If he's healthy NVE can be a very good player. Then I don't see the need to get Nelson. THey should instead go after a forward.
