Jason Varitek getting in is shows why fans have a little too much control in the all star game voting. He is batting .219 and a Slugging % at .360 but still makes it into the All star game.

Also Coco Crisp and Johny Damon were well ahead of Carl Crawford and BJ Upton in the voting.

Vote for Evan Longoria in the final vote thing!

He almost got the starting spot over Mauer too. That would have been even more messed up.

If Longoria is left out, enjoy it, because its the last team he wont be on an all star game for the next 15 years....

Agreed, that man can hit the ball so hard. He will be an All Star next year and many years to come after that, like you said.

Varitek was voted in by the players, not the fans.

Well he did get 2.2 million votes, Navarro wasnt even in the top 5 catchers in votes and he made the all star team.

Fans also voted Melky Cabrera over Grady Sizemore and Carl Crawford.

Robinson Cano got almost double the amount of votes as Brian Roberts, even though I think most GMs would pick Roberts over Cano.

Roberts is the better player now, but Cano's much younger, and no slouch himself.
