...Verlander got the most 1st place votes (14-8) but didn't win...but how in the world can some of the voters leave Verlander completely off their ballots? ============================== I thought Kate Upton summed it up best...lol Kate Upton @KateUpton 14h14 hours ago Hey @MLB I thought I was the only person allowed to fuck @JustinVerlander ?! What 2 writers didn't have him on their ballot?
Pretty funny remark by KU. I once worked with a woman who was chewing out her teen age boy over a work place phone comment to him "at least your father kisses me before he fucks me.
...^^^fwiw, they just disclosed that both writers that left Verlander completely off their ballots are from the Tampa Bay area...figured you'd have a field day with that...lol.
Why am I not surprised. Last summer there was a huge push by local media pushing for fans to come out and show what crowds could be like at a new stadium. They drew about 2K over current average. One lady stated she wanted a stadium where one could watch a game for 3 innings then seek other forms of amusement during the game. Total crock of shit to me, when I go to a game it's for the purposes of watching a game. Though they are a necessary evil in this area I'm no fan of enclosed ball parks. Went to a few games in the Astrodome, ditto the Trop. Much prefer sunshine, fresh air, hot dog and coke day games. The Tampa Bay Broadcast Team and Sports Rag writers can as Flo used to quote can kiss my grits. My hope for the local team is to relocate. The Tampa Bay writers probably pissed because Archer flubbed the dub, took it out on Verlander.

...^^^same here...it blows my mind to see the supposed "fans" at Yankee Stadium who are sitting in prime seats behind home plate or right next to the field, but are too busy texting/tweeting or whatever and are totally oblivious to what's going on during the game...I mean, why even bother to come. ...It's a mystery to me that more people are not hit/hurt by line drive foul balls or flying bats because they are not even paying attention.
ayeayeaye, where'd I put my blood pressure meds??? not to mention the paradox, a woman who doesn't wear a support, gives it (her undivided support) all to her man.... No wonder JV was having probs with his arm, (maybe his lwr back too) he was working it* over time. (* Revise to read: "Her" in lieu of "it").
59, Not a mystery at all. No "normal fans" can afford those seats behind and around home plate and that is the disgrace of baseball. That and the fact that few kids will ever see a playoff or world series game ending because they can't stay up past midnight. Once our generation is gone baseball will be in trouble with the future ones growing up
...I've only been to 6 games at YS (2002 and 2008)(I still have the grass I stole from Monument Park) and though I have not been to the new YS yet, the people I've talked to that have been to both ballparks say that while the new stadium is really nice, it doesn't have the "soul" that the old YS had and that the new stadium is not as loud and that the current crop of fans are somewhat subdued and not really involved with the game. ...I recall talking to a guy who had be to a whole lot of games who told me he was at game 1 in the '98 WS and he said it was the only time he had felt the ballpark actually shake...when Tino hit that GS in the 7th he said he was seriously concerned that the place was going to collapse...still gives me chills.
what about normal fans like LeBron James, JayZ....they can afford those seats, lol! personally, been to NLCS and WS games, but that was pre-9/11. At the current costs, I'd rather invest in a 100" OLED tv and have parties with family and friends watching the games.
we got a great deal on a 4K UHD, last spring, a 60 inch. Make's viewing a whole new experience. So far only the Jays, are transmitting via a 4K-UHD; signal. Now, there's the Super Ultra HD, wtf??? what's next, Xtra super duper extremely beyond high def??? Surround Sound System to boot, like being at the park. Next comes "smell-a-vision". Screw those prices, long gone are the days, of a cheap ticket. Chavez Ravine. The cheapest tickets in all of MLB for close to 30 yrs, ridiculously cheap. But then consider, this isn't the Yanx. One could not beat Chavez's Field level seat's for prices: (season tix) 10$ from the dugout to the foul pole. Only $25 for field level tix directly behind home plate. 1st Mez 5-8$, 3rd Mez 5$ ( used mostly group tickets, or charters). 4th Mez, 3$, but they should of paid those fans, for altitude sickness. OF bleacher seats, were 1$ in 1970, then 3$ by 1980-1989.
