<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Bulls and Indiana Pacers have discussed a trade sending Al Harrington and the No. 29 pick in the June 24 draft to the Bulls for the No. 3 pick and a player, possibly Scottie Pippen, according to a league source." Harrington is a 6-9, 250-pound small forward who averaged 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds this season, finishing second to Dallas' Antawn Jamision for the Sixth Man of the Year award. But Harrington no longer wants to come off the bench, and the Pacers have indicated a willingness to move him. Harrington is considered a bargain with two years and $13.3 million left on his contract. He's a perfect fit for the type of player Bulls operations chief John Paxson has targeted for the offseason. </div> Link
I think that is a nice trade, I think Al Harrington needs a new team so he can start, I think he can be a star in this league...Question is who would Indy draft? A PG?
I would personally draft Shaun Livingston If Indiana do trade for the pick, that guy is going to be a top 3 point guard within 4 years. This would leave only really the center position that really needs fixing. I like this trade for Chicago, they keep getting draft pick after draft pick each year. They need a guy who can produce straight away instead of having to wait 3+ years for those guys to develop. Harrington is a guy who can become one of their main scoring options. 18 and 6 is more than possible for Harrington in the right situation. Bottom line is this, the Bulls cannot afford to get any younger or any more inexperienced.
I wouldn't do this if I were John Paxson. Harrington is a potential cancer, and he is not very consistent. The number 3 pick, meanwhile, would turn out to be Loul Deng. To me, Deng is already better than Harrington. The Bulls might have too many projects, but Deng is too good a player to pass up.
i agree Al isnt a star not one to carry a team like the Bulls he is a good role player that is why he almost one the 6th man award because that is all he is.The Bulls need someone to take leadership of this team and with PiP out they need a veteran to take this young team to the playoffs. I would never trade a #3 pick for Al just a bad idea even to think of
Before I start, I just wanted to say hello becuase this is my first post. If I were John Paxson I definitly would not do this. While Al is a good off the bench player, I do not see him being able to start in the league anytime soon because of his inconsistancy. I would much rather have the #3 draft pick to use on Deng or Iguodala.
Al Harrington is very inconsistent and should no way be considered for the 3rd pick. He does not have as nearly as much basketball knowledge as Deng (who the Bulls will probably chose). Plus Deng can make plays with his passing.
I use to have some faith in Harrington, but no he's not worth it. Definitely not, even if he and say Jones were future MIP's which they are not, Deng would make an immediate impact and although is a Rookie compared to them, has the better NBA build both physically and mentally.
I would certainly do it. Harrington is one of the Pacers best players and shooting guards on the floor. He can sometimes do anything he wants with the ball and is a great sixth man for Indiana. If I were Paxon, I would certainly do this trade instead of getting Leul (sp?) Deng.
Would you trade 3th pick & Curry for Harrington and Foster? Indy's two problems are immediately solved if that trade would go down...
Not to be rude, but Chucksta, that trade is would never happen. The Bulls would be getting an inconsistant player who is not used to starting and a guy who is a rebounder. I would much rather have a scorer(Deng) then Foster.
sorry, dude, but Indy wouldn't even want to trade Harrington and Foster for Curry and #3 pick... I mean, if the draft wasn't so iffy this year... then, yeah, Indy would do it, but after the first 2 selections (Howard and Okafer), the draft goes downhill from there (save maybe Gordon). So... I don't think it would happen. Sidenote: Foster is not only a rebounder... more importantly, he's an OFFENSIVE rebounding specialist... there are too few of those in the NBA and the Bulls (in my opinion) could use one, so I bet the Bull's GM would jump at the chance for Foster. I promise, just b/c I'm a Pacer fan... I'm not trying to be biased against the Bulls, I'm just looking from Indy perspective here.
I think the potential in Curry and our #3 pick won't be worth what Foster and Harrington can do for the Bulls.
Dont do it imo. Either keep the pick and take deng out of duke. Or trade the pick to philly for dalembert who is a big guy who has shown he will be a defensive pressence in the nba in the future. They would have to give up less and could still have a high lottery pick because they would get the sixers number 9 selection posssible taking a gordan or livingston (if clippers dont take him) with that pick.
As a Clipper fan, I'd be VERY disappointed if this trade went down. If the Pacers got the #3 pick that would mean they leap frog the Clippers and now our hopes of getting Livingston are crushed. It was already a dumb trade to go down to the #4, and if this happens I'll pay Mr. Elgin Baylor a personal visit for screwing up another year for us...
I would never do this. Harrington is a great player, but, very inconsistent. I'd rather see Luol Deng in a chicago uni next year over Harrington any day.
i agree, i say pick deng, he looked really good at duke, and coach k's players have come to play in the nba(when they arent injured)
