Oh yeah, of course Al-Qaeda wants the US military to stay in the Middle East and keep killing their soldiers (agents, followers, etc). That is the smart choice by AQ. Don't tell me they're financing McCain' campaign as well. lol
Larijani: Iran prefers Obama Iranian parliament speaker says his country is leaning towards Democratic candidate in US presidential election 'because he is more flexible and rational' AFP Iranian parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Wednesday that Iran would prefer Democrat Barack Obama in the White House next year. Larijani also dismissed any idea that the US would attack Iran. How to deal with Iran and the crisis over its nuclear drive has been one of the foreign policy issues in the Nov. 4 race for the White House between Obama and Republican John McCain. Larijani, a leading figure in the conservative camp in Iran, also said the United States was too busy dealing with the global financial crisis to consider waging an attack on Iran. "The risk was low before," he said. "But now I am 100% certain that the United States will not unleash a war against Iran. The economic crisis has cost the United States $1.4 trillion and Washington is working to resolve its internal problems and not a war." Link
Their soldiers are recruited far more easily when they have a tangible "enemy" that mobilizes a disaffected population.
They die a lot quicker too when up against the best military the world has ever seen. Notice how Obama never brings up Iraq these days other than to say that everyone knew the surge would work (which he was against, by the way)?
"We're not going to defeat a terrorist network that operates in 80 countries through an occupation of Iraq," Obama said. "We shouldn't keep spending $10 billion a month in Iraq while the Iraqis sit on a huge surplus," Obama said. - October 22, 2008
Yea, I was just pointing out why Al Qaeda would want the US military to remain in the Middle East and show how CK missed the point. Nothing more.
Kind of like how McCain doesn't bring up the economy, other than to just imply that Obama is a socialist and hates plumbers named Joe.
Why are some people trying to compare Iran, a legitimate nation, to al-Queda? They are not incredibly different than the Soviet Union. Who knows what could happen when there are rational leaders in place. Look at the Soviet Union, they got a rational leader in place with Gorbachev, and relations with the United States and Soviet Union improved.
What a shock that they support McCain. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gpUZiud98lE&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gpUZiud98lE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
They will recruit them no matter what Chutney. They recruited terrorists before 9/11, our army wasn't in Iraq or Afghanistan, and yet they succeeded in bombing our country. You always need to keep the enemy at bay (in this case, it's in the middle east) and keep the fighting there. You cannot even sense that this country is at war here in the US, unless you actually know what's happening and that we're fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, and that's all thanks to our military (strongest on earth) who have succeed in fighting the religion freaks/terrorists/devils of this world.
They don't want US military to remain there, trust me. They would love a quick pull out by the US, and they will claim quick victory the next day, saying that they have defeated the infidels (americans) and then call for jihad on the rest of the world. I didn't miss anything Chutney.
Iran is led by a maniac who is calling for the death of Jews, and the destruction of America. Also with Russia, Putin hates America just as much as Ahmedinejad but he is clever and doesn't show it. (kgb taught him that) But he's more dangerous.
We need to stop all this sensationalism and generalization when it comes to foreign policy. It is stupid and it doesn't work. We should be listening to Colin Powell on the Russian situation. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/u224oMuAEr8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/u224oMuAEr8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
You should be listening to me dude, who knows first hand how bad Russia is, with their communism way of dealing with things. They're still communists, they won't tell you that but Putin is the biggest communist on earth, and he would throw out a party if he was to see the destruction of America. Every country that neighbors Russia knows how bad they are.
Them claiming victory if the US were to pull out of Iraq is true, because al-Qaida is very good at being opportunistic propagandists. However, you're missing the point of why al-Qaida really does want us to continue to be bogged down in Iraq. The current financial meltdown is being lauded by al-Qaida and like minded extremist groups as their doing. They are now saying that Iraq and Afghanistan were traps set by them to lure the USA in and destroy their economy. Pure propaganda, they don't have that kind of foresight. However, I do believe they would rather have John McCain to continue these wars, because in reality, the Iraq war is a tremendous drain on our economy, and their followers have stated as much. Oh, and if you think they're worried about losing their soldiers/fighters/followers, I'd suggest you do some research about the people we're dealing with.
