Former Alabama linebacker Freddie Roach is returning to Tuscaloosa to join Nick Saban's coaching staff in an off-field player development role, which was left by Chris Samuels, BamaOnLine has confirmed. The news was first reported by FootballScoop.com.

Roach spent the last two seasons at South Alabama, where he coached the Jaguars defensive ends and linebackers as an assistant. Prior to his two-year stint in Mobile, Ala., Roach was at Murray State (2012) and East Mississippi Community College (2011) where he coached the defensive line and strength and conditioning.
