<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">[IMG]Beacon-Journal - According to league insiders, the Cavaliers top target is Alan Henderson. The 10-year veteran played last season with the Dallas Mavericks, where he averaged 3.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 52 games. He played the previous nine years with the Atlanta Hawks, where Cavs assistant general manager Chris Grant, a former Hawks executive, got to know him well.

The 6-foot-9, 32-year-old Henderson is known as a good mid-range shooter but, more importantly for the Cavs, an active rebounder. He was second in the NBA last season in offensive rebounds per 48 minutes.

Getting a player like Henderson became imperative after forward u]Anderson Varejao[/u]went down with a severe shoulder injury that required surgery last week. He might be out until February.

But signing Henderson might be complicated. The salary won't be: He'll get $1,138,500, the veteran's minimum, of which about $400,000 will be picked up by the league. However, Henderson was arrested July 2 at JFK Airport in New York for having a loaded gun</div>

Interesting, do you think Dallas will re-sign him? I mean, we've shown no interest at all this offseason, and he was really helpful with his defense last year.

I think we should offer him a small contract, just incase Diop doesn't pan out -- we'll have a veteran behind him.

^I agree, he did show alot of good hustle for a big man and he turned out to be a pretty significant signing for us, yeah maybe a 1-year contract just to see how he does for another season and then deicide his future.

Actually, the Mavericks could pick him up but then they'd have to release three players before Oct 1 (I believe that's the date). However, it's out of question now that Henderson has already signed with the Cavs to back up Ilgauskas.
