Aldridge: 2nd best player in the NBA in the clutch

Yeah but what about unassisted clutch win portion points within 5 feet of the basket? I bet he sucks at that, ergo he is turrible and we need to trade him for young, unproven talent.

I still think you have to give the ball to a guard in that position. He can survey the scene from up top which is a far better vantage point, and he can make decisions whether to drive, pass, or step back and shoot. And with a terrific one on one player like Dame, it's even more egregious to pass him up, no matter how good LA's numbers say he is. Especially with 7 seconds left where there is time to make decisions.

Teams would kill for a triple threat like Dame in clutch, and yet we're not going to him anymore for some reason.

 

Agree, however Jrue was D-ing up Dame pretty good last night. Not that he couldn't take him, as the stats showed, but Aldridge definitely had the better match-up.

 

It seems like they couldve went to LMA and then kick it out to Lillard. 7 seconds is a shitload of time and we wasted it dribbling dribbling dribbling. I would have been even been happier with a LMA/Dame pick n roll in that situation.

 

I was very happy with the final play Aldridge had. He'd been killing it on the block all night. To get a one-on-one shot right there is just an ideal situation. It just didn't fall. Happens to everyone.

 

It wasn't wasted dribbling, LMA backed Hawes into the post and got a great look. As much as it sucks LMA missed his last two game winners there is no denying he can get a shot off at the end, as much as he isn't dirk his turn away fadeaway is like dirks weird ass jump and tilt his body back shot, in that its unblockable.
If we know we can't get a great look for someone in the post in that situation then I think Dame needs to decide the game on a shot or an assist.

The only reason that last shot even mattered was the insanely difficult three pointer LMA had made just moments before. Was he a clutch player then and not clutch player a minute later?

 

I really was "ok" with LMA taking that shot. But between my gut and the fact Im HUGE Lillard homer and that he was hot in the fourth I would have preferred Lillard in that situation. If LMA had made it I would have loved it. But right when they threw it into him before he even took the shot my first thought was, "I wish this was Lillard"

 

Think of it like this.... who would have taken the shot in 2007, Roy or Aldridge?

And there you have it. So my question is, will Aldridge yield to Lillard as "the man" or will there be friction?

 

Why would he cause friction? He's seen Lillard pretty much take over the team this season without a single complaint.

Aldridge wants to win and Lillard will help him reach that goal.

 

I think its better for the team in the long run. I worry that LMA wont hand that title over so easily. Here's to hoping that im worng. I am still a believer that the 'right' LMA is a good fit for this team

 

Do you presume to know what Aldridge thinks or feels on this subject? He attempted 28 shots last night. That is a shit ton of shots.

 

Also, better question. What would Roy do if Aldridge started getting more attention?

 

Nope I just go by what he says publicly and how Lillard is taking a lot of shots his rookie season.

Oh and in case you didn't notice; only Aldridge and Lillard showed up to play offensively. And 28 efficient shots to add.
