Month of March for Aldridge, 19.9 points, 9.0 rebounds. Best part, he is taking fewer shots per game, 14.7, but has really stepped up his aggressiveness, 6.7 FTA per game, and hitting at an 87% clip. Aldridge just having a good start to the month, or starting to show us more of that potential?
The biggest difference is his aggressiveness. He hasn't tried to dunk on this many people since he's been a Blazer. He's had some impressive posterizations dunks this past month.
I think he's finally starting to put it all together on a consistent basis which was the hope when he was drafted as a bit of a project (I know that sounds weird for a number 2 overall pick) then again bigs usually do take a bit longer to develop. The biggest difference I see is that he's finally learning to trust his own talent; maybe he's starting to believe that he can go out and take games over?
I've always felt there's no way he should be a sub-80% shooter at the line with how smooth his stroke is. What he's doing now seems like it should be sustainable.
He might have that 20 ppg average if he had not tried to dunk quite so much the last couple of games. He missed two or three I think due to a little too aggressive. Don't really mind that though.
Seems to me that he's been spending time in the weight room. As he gets stronger, he goes inside more. He gets more boards and more dunks...FG% goes up, what's not to like. Mixum, if there anyone on the team that you DO like?
