When Utah drafted this guy with the 19th pick in the 2003 draft, they were after scoring, and he was meant to be a lights out shooter. He hasn't really lived up to the expectation, shooting only .396 %. He averaged 4.8 points, and 2.0 rebounds per game for his rookie season. Mo Williams, a second round pick in the same draft was putting up 5 PPG. An alarming stat is that he was averaging 2.4 fouls in 14.5 minutes. Despite all of this, he has shown some potential and has had to deal with new surroundings, as he is from Serbia-Montenegro and is only 21. Many foreign rookies stuggle, and he has a higher FG % than what Peja did in his rookie season (.378). What do you think his numbers will be like next season, and in his career? I think he'll make an improvement next season, and put up 7-10 PPG with more minutes. He can put up more than that over his career, but it will be a few seasons away.
I think the Jazz should try to keep him. I believe he is only 20, not 21, but Sasha showed some good play in a few games I saw. I know in the first game of the season against Portland he came out with 14 points and played decent defense. I wish the Jazz would try to mold him into a SG form and I think he could be our starting SG in a few years. I believe with his height and his shooting could help him become a great shooting guard, maybe a Reggie Miller, oh wait I better wake up from dreaming. But I really think the Jazz shouldn't get rid of him, unless they can get a good low post player.
