Ali G Filming a Spot with Duncan & Horry

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">They act, too: Tim Duncan and Robert Horry will film a commercial with Ali G today in Philadelphia. The mock British hip-hop character from the self-named HBO series already has done several ads for the NBA.

Duncan and Horry will film one spot together with Ali G and Duncan also will do a solo one with him. Spike Lee is directing the commercials. </div>

There just seems to be a great number of Americans who struggle with comedy that comes from either Britain or Australia.

British comedy is a bit wittier and more offbeat than what we're used to over here.. But that's a shame.. There's been countless great British comedy acts..

The Brits do come up with a few great comedy acts from to time to time, but I fail to see Ali G as one of them. He's just figgin annoying. At most he gets a chuckle out of people, other than that, bleh. I think he's more of a living satire on our hip hop culture but a running gag only lasts a short while before it becomes a limping gasp. In short, he's not funny, but maybe they'll have Duncan and Horry lose their cool and smack him or something. Now that would be entertainment!

As usual the Brits are copying the Americans, this time our humor, especially the unfunny sham known as Ali G - Bruno- Sacha Cohen et al. The Ali G (yawn) act has been playing for the past several years with much funnier material on the Daily Show not only with the master himself, Jon Stewart, but the funnier than thou Stephen Colbert and Ed Helm who deadpan and jerk chains better than any Brit could imagine. And right now nothing is better than the Colbert Report. (Unless Dave Chappelle comes back...and Reno 911 is worth watching) Unfortunately the British aren't doing much of anything these days.
They have some decent soccer players and runners, but their country is a mess socially and economically; so they're doing a good job of copying us there as well.

Actually, the Ali G show first aired 7 years ago. He is hilarious. The way he toys with political people and his alter ego Borat is amazing aswell. You need to watch more Ali-G. He deliberatly says things acting dumb knowing he's going to annoy his guest or whatever. Its certainly unique.

The British economically in a mess? Are you stupid or something? Are you not aware of how much debt America is in? I'm not even to try and start a Britain vs America flame war, but I think what you said about us being in an economic mess is stupid. The British Pound is the strongest currency in the world. Its actually worth 1.8 dollars. Check your facts before you make bold statements.

The pound is worth 1.8 dollars not because its stronger just beacuse its the equivalent of 2 dollars american. You can't compare the currency's, they use different measurments. and the euro is the strongest curency right now.

...and ali g's interviews are better than daily shows.

The British Pound is stronger than the USD. The fact it takes $1.8 USD to purchase $1 British Pound, means the dollar is weaker.

British humour has always been the standard in terms of wit and sarcasm. I personally find American humour to be more in-your-face and crude. If you watched some British humour, you would realize that the Daily Show is probably the exception in American comedy. It resembles Brit comedy more with its sarcasm and ridiculous interviews.

Ok ok, Borat is pretty damn funny sometimes. And I gotta admit that Ali getting Pat Buchanan to refer to weapons of mass destruction as BLTs got more than a chuckle from me.

Heres some links of Ali G:

Search around Youtube, the best Ali-G shows are the ones he's done in America.

By the way, those "British" people that are interviewed act totally different to the general British public. Those people are specifically found as they wouldn't know who Ali G is and realise it is a hoax.
