Justice Samuel Alito says criticism of the Supreme Court is going too far. “It goes without saying that everyone is free to express disagreement with our decisions and to criticize our reasoning as they see fit,” Alito, who penned the decision reversing Roe v. Wade last term, told The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday. “But saying or implying that the court is becoming an illegitimate institution or questioning our integrity crosses an important line,” he said. https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/29/politics/alito-supreme-court-kagan-roberts/index.html
The SC judges are the ones that crossed the line. Sorry, not sorry they are butthurt by the criticism. They had to know it was coming.
Laws that have been affirmed and reaffirmed are no longer laws because three judges changed. Does look like current court considers the law to be their personal desires. I question the integrity of serial sexual harasser, multiple accused rapist, handmaiden, and judges who swore under oath that Roe was settled law. I question the integrity of Moscow Mitch, who said 10 months was too close to an election to seat a new justice (when a Democrat was president) but rushed a justice through in record time 3 weeks before an election (when a Republican was president).
When the new judges promised they would not go against precedent in their confirmation hearing, and then went and did it - that's when a line was crossed. Glass houses and all that.
And when the wife of a Supreme Court Justice is a leading right wing activist working on issues her spouse will rule on.
I just am happy they are aware that people don’t like or trust them. That’s good. I kinda thought they were living in their bubble.
You know the court is illegitimate when the judges think speaking the truth crosses an important line.
