Can King Wear A Crown? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By Roland Laird for HOOPSWORLD.com Jul 12, 2005, 07:39 I know many people are questioning Billy King's stewardship, and from certain angles some of his moves have looked suspect. However they haven't been suspect from an intent standpoint, just from the results. For instance, suppose Todd MacCulloch didn't have to resign? All of a sudden instead of us being short-handed at center, we'd have in Samuel Dalembert and Todd, one of the best one-two center combinations in the league. That's one example; also which GM wouldn't have traded Keith Van Horn for Marc Jackson and Glenn Robinson? Very few. It seemed like a big move that would improve the team; nobody could have predicted that with Larry Brown gone, the team would have imploded like it did. Granted the great GM's seem to avoid completely destructive situations, but nobody ever said King was great. Yet, he's not a bum. How many GM's have two former second round draft picks that are fairly highly regarded around the league? I don't care what anybody says, that's impressive. Also nobody can deny that Andre Iguodala has an opportunity to be a real player in this league. Also impressive. link: http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_13359.shtml
