A few years back, SI rated the top go-to moves in the NBA...lets get everyones opinion on this...

Which go-to move was (1) most difficult to defend, which is the (2) most difficult to emulate, and which is (3) the most fun to watch...

    Such notable ones were:

Hakeems "Dream Shake" (which was ranked #1 by SI)
    Jordan's fadaway
    Shaq's drop step
Iverson's crossover (before they banned it lol)
    Tim Hardaway's "killer crossever"
    Kareems "skyhook"
    George Gervin's fingeroll

What the hell? Carter's fadeaway is just as good as Jordan's fadeaway. Carter has the most deadliest fadeaway in the league. When he elevates high, NOBODY can stop it. Not even the greatest man-on-man defender can stop it.

Anyways, Iverson's crossover is the hardest to defend. He's as fast a the speed of light, nuff said. The hardest to emulate is obviously Jordan's fadeaway. Of course, anyone can do a normal fadeaway by simply elevating the opposite way, but I don't think anyone can do the Jordan/Carter fadeaway, which requires more elevation and more air-time. The most fun to watch is Iverson's crossovers obviously.

I would rank Kobe and Garnett's fadeaways over Carter's...nonetheless, I have never seen anybody shoot it like MJ....

Comparing Kobe and Garnett's is an insult to Carter. I hope you've seen and watched Carter's fadeaways before to even say that.

I think a nice go to move is Kobe's turn around J it is hard to defend ,and he often does it.The hardest to emulate is the MJ fade away. The most fun to watch is the AI cross ,it was fun watchin him kill all those ankles.

not as absurd as saying carter's fadeaway is better than Jordan's....I've watched plenty of carter, probably before u ever even heard of him (i'm assuming u pretty young), and it is simply my opinion that he doesn't shoot the fadeaway as well as kobe and KG...let alone MJ

YES! You've seen him do fadeaways since the 80's, which means you know more about it than I do. I was only an enfant at the time, and never knew anything but an instinct of crawling.

Stop blathering. I never said it was better than Jordan's.

Tell me how he doesn't shoot it "as good as Bryant and Garnett"?

I'd have to go with Tim Hardaway's killer crossover. He revolutionized the term "breaking ankles".

As for Carter...you can't even compare him to MJ, you are obviously biased towards VC. I have all the respect for Vince in the world, but you can't say his fadeaway is equal to the king of fadeaways in Jordan.

    no way, man.

i admit VC has the athleticism for a good fade away, but MJ's was fade away was unstoppable. he could average 30 ppg with his fadeaway alone. MJ's fade away is a good notch above VC's.

    best move: Hakeem's dream shake.

Okay, it is absurd to say Carter's fadeaway is "as good" as Jordan...is that more to your liking?

and no I never saw Vince play during the 80's...I don't think many of us have...

Please, don't even mention biasness. I have watched roughly three quarters of Carter's total career games played, and I have seen him do unbelievable fadeaways that none has done with the probable exception of Jordan. Prior to his injury, he has done way more fadeaways than when he wasn't injury prone, and they have all been money because he has relied on it a lot and had to practice it a lot. Also, how is Jordan's "better" than Carter's? Is it because he glides more smoothly, which I disagree with? Don't even mention hang time, because Carter seems like he'll never come back down on the floor. I'll agree with the fact that Carter's and Jordan's is debatable, but mentioning Bryant and Garnet's is simply ridiculous.

I agree, Hardaway's wasn't as fancy, but it was quicker, little wasted movement...

You are talking about what? looks of a fadeaway? Simply put, it seems to me them other guys make more...simple as that...MJ made his fadeaways at a higher percentage than anyone else i've ever seen...

Of that list that you posted two of them stand out to me as possibly the two greatest one-on-one moves ever: The Dream Shake and the Sky Hook. Both moves were killer for both Hakeem and Kareem and they were literally unstoppable. Those two would have to be the hardest to defend.

The hardest to emulate would be the Sky Hook for the simple fact that no-one to this day has mastered it like Kareem did. Why of why can we not teach Yao Ming this shot?

My favorite to watch was the Dream Shake. I am sort of biased considering I live in Houston and Hakeem has always been one of my favorite players.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">What the hell? Carter's fadeaway is just as good as Jordan's fadeaway. Carter has the most deadliest fadeaway in the league. When he elevates high, NOBODY can stop it. Not even the greatest man-on-man defender can stop it. </div>

Please, don't insult Michael with that comment. No offense but Carter couldn't hold Michael's jock when it comes to the fadeaway. As of now I would not even consider his fadeaway the deadliest in the league. It certainly is a good move however it is no where near the greatest or one of them. You said nobody could stop it however I would put money on it that Kevin Garnett as well as Scottie Pippen(prime) could both rip Carter apart if he tried to pull that move on them.

Jordan is one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history who, in the latter portion of his career, relied heavily on his fade away. VC has a long way to go until his fade away can be "as good as" MJ's.

sorry bud, but i think you love for VC is biasing your opinion.

Exactly... no one in the history of the game has sunk fades with regularity like MJ. Not only that, he is able to pull those shots out of his *** to win games.

Basically, there is not way to have a definate decision on something like this, since this is an opinionated debate. I must say i haven't watched carter play that much truthfully, but jordan's fadeaway was just unstoppable, like nothing can stop it, i mean, there isn't a word to describe how untouchable it was.

Anyways, all of those moves are too sick to choose from. Personally i think that Gervin's is the only one that you could actually say is off the list, in my OPINION.

also, based on the qualifications listed above, Iverson's crossover is probably the easiest to emulate. every kid nowadays tried to learn an iverson crossover before learning how to throw a good bounce pass.

    (1) Hakeem's dream shake.
-He had Ewing going all over the place wondering where he would put the ball up. I remeber that series like it was yesterday...

    (2) Shaq's drop step
-Dependable move, but good luck getting the ball to him easily while having the paint clogged with defenders.

    (3) Jordan's fadaway
-The ONLY reason not to change the channel is when Jordan has the ball with time winding down.
