Who is/was the better defender? My pick is Dikembe. He is tied for alltime DPOY awards with Ben Wallace. He was a dynamite shotblocker, and a very solid rebounder. His length also helped allow him to get into passing lanes at times and cause steals. His awareness I think is above Alonzo's, and that equates to a better defender.Who ya got?
dikembe mutombo, you got to give it to the guy.he's known as a defensive player because he boards like mad and he has perfect timing as he goes up and swats the shiiiiiit out of the ball.i'd take the finger wag over that damn bicep anyday.
Dikembe, simply for the longevity of the guy. He's just been going on, and on, and on, and on...And when I say defender, I mean shot-blocker. Not to say that they aren't good one-on-one dfenders, but both their strengths are weak-side help defense.
Now I'll go with Zo, back then Mount Mutumbo. You guys forget what a best this guy was in the 90s just block after block, and the finger wag. Man to man proably Zo but Mutumbo's length is just too much to ignore.Man the 90s was just full of great big man, I'm kinda spoiled I must admit.
I remember last season's playoffs with Dallas and Houston. He [Dikembe Mutombo] was a defensive beast.Mutombo is the better defender. Still, though, Mourning is undoubtedly a great backup. Best backup center in the league.
Actually, last year I would have said that Mutombo was the best center in the league. This year, I would say Mourning, with Mutombo second.
