I mention this before in another thread. Silents? It seems like the elephant in the room that everyone is ignoring. Repost from another thread. We may have a problem at PG, but Portland can fix that before next season. Lillard shot .161 from three and .406 from the field during the playoffs and only managed to produce 4.6 assists per game. This is not even a bench quality PG. The worst thing, even worse than his piss poor defense, was his inability to recongnize who are his best shooter on the court. I do not think he got one assist helping Meyers get a shot. Even worse, I did not see him even pass the ball to him once, The best shooter on the court and the man ignored him. That is dumb. I don't know what the hell is wrong with him but it is fixable by him or a serviceable PG. Anyone got and answer?
Pretty small sample size for me. What about last year's playoff numbers? Yes Dame passed to him that I saw but overall lets remember that Dame wasn't alone in not passing to Meyers much. I don't think anything is broken with Dame other then his back and fingers. I expect an off-season of rest is going to fix that. I don't think anything needs fixing but get back to me 3 months into the season next year and we will see.
Until next playoffs when hes bruised and 'exhausted' again.... Meh.... everyone is hurt and tired. Hopefully you're right... we can't progress with him shooting the way he did this year in the Playoffs.
Small Sample? Playoff were about the same as the second half of the whole season for the PG, really poor.
Assists come when your teammates can hit a shot. Unfortunately, no one really hit their shots. Then it snow balls because if your role players and other star can't hit their shot, the team can collapse on you and force you to take rushed and contested shots, further creating problems
He is a top 10 point guard. Great player, had a bad second half. His assist numbers are low for two reasons, we swing the ball a lot and we miss a lot of shots off good passes.
His stats across the board were poor after his injury. No doubt. Not sure why you would expect otherwise.
What the hell? He injured? Then why the hell does he jack up so many friggin threes that he can't hit? .161 sucks you know. He took more threes the anyone else if the damn league. Is that what you do when injured? Come on, that's bull shit! Especially when you have a real shooter out there with you that you can't fucking find. Did he injure and eye?
This guy reminds me of co-workers I used to work with that continually asked a question different ways, if the answer you gave didn't fit into their box. I laughed @ them and repeated the same thing over and over again until they accepted the answer that was given. If you want Lillard to average 10+ assists a game, let him play like CP3/Curry/Wall/etc. If you play in a system like the Blazers do. Assist numbers will go down, because more than 1 player will touch the ball per 24 seconds. See Rondo when he went to the Mavs System, See Lillard in the Blazers System, See Parker in the Spurs System.. I could go on... When you dominate the ball like Rondo, Nash, Curry, CP3, and others... Your assist numbers will be inflated. However.... When you play within a system. Your numbers are lower. Useage % doesn't tell the whole story. Some of the shots Lillard too were questionable. But he's not the only one that should be questioned for shot selection.
Perhaps you have a point. I think the coach should have ripped his ass. But even so, a PG should know on his own, better than the shit I saw him give the team.
Blah Blah blah, another Lillard hate thread.... Who do you want to trade him for Marzy? You obviously don't want him on the team. So come up with a solution to your "problem" instead of creating a useless thread...
Of course. If one person has one perspective, and everyone else has a differing perspective, it stands to reason that everyone else is wrong.
