Am I the only one that's a little disappointed?

I have loved watching the Blazers over the years of my life and have invested a lot of emotional bankroll (probably too much) in their wins and losses, but I will be the first to admit, sadly, that I am feeling pretty damn "meh" about NBA basketball right now. I feel good for John and the rest that owe their livelihood to the NBA, but as far as the games and the players and the teams? Tepidness. This shameful bout of selfishness on both sides' part has really driven a nail in my ability to get excited about the return of NBA basketball. Admittedly, my psyche was fine with "taking a break" while the NBA.

Of course, my hypocracy will have me back in the fold come January, and I'll be subjected to the courtside whims of the Blazers laundry running up and down the court. From the looks of the new CBA, I shouldn't even bother learning the player's names as they'll be shuffling in and out like a deck of cards. But I was really halfway looking forward to a year without the NBA. I hope I'm not alone.

I feel a little that way but I am actually more disturbed by what's going on with mgmt and havingno GM and rumors of a sale down the road, the letting go of Cho and all that stuff. Seems to be the ships is rudderless and that is disturbing.

I don't think you're in the majority, but you're not alone. I feel nothing but contempt for both sides right now. That feeling might abate, but I won't be spending money on tickets or league pass this year (or maybe for lots of years?) and really don't have any burning desire to watch games either.

Maybe when Allen sells the team or otherwise demonstrates that he's not a completely incompetent twat I'll feel a little more invested, but frankly, the state of the Blazers (and the league in general) is nothing to get very excited about.

After all was said and done, it really isn't all that far off from they had. It's like watching children fight.

I'm even more excited for a season now! The two sides stole two+ months of free agency, trades, training camp, pre-season and regular season games from me. Now I want to get back to sitting in my Archie Bunker chair on these rainy NW nights with a fire, my dog, some Lagavulin and the Blazers on tv.

    RIP CITY!!!!

Wow. You expressed my thoughts almost perfectly. I've never been more unenthusiastic about a season. I'm almost disappointed they settled the lockout. I guess I've just had it up to here with the spoiled egomaniacs that play in the NBA. This off-season may have put a permanent dent in my respect and affection for the NBA . . .

Selfishly, it was going to be nice to save the money from my season tickets, and having nights free for what looks like a lot of work overtime coming up - but I'll get over it the first time we have an exciting buzzer-beater finish. Or a victory over LA.

i am somewhat excited as a blazer fan for the new season, i'm even happier as a sports anchor to have highlights to cover of the three texas teams but i can't help but think that this lockout did much more harm than good to the league as a whole. the die hards are going to follow the sport no matter what, but the casual fan has heard three months (because the media wasn't following this lockout until after the NFL one was resolved) of the billionaires and millionaires fighting over money. i have to believe many people are in the camp of the op, like my father who opted for UofP season tickets instead of his normal 10 Blazer games, and they won't be back to the nba for at least a couple years, if not longer.

I am trying to figure out why some fans are disappointed that the season isn't canceled, but still want to post on a NBA forums. I am sure there is a logical reason, I just haven't figured it out.

I don't blame anyone for being disillusioned with the NBA, without the Blazers I would not watch either. But if we keep coming back to this website.........then we must either be true fans, or sick individuals that just need a forum to bitch. Face it....you are still fans. It is in your blood.

Yep, that is exactly how I feel. I had a hard time expressing my feeling earlier when my wife and I talked about getting tickets for some games; she was confused about how blah I was over the news. I told her I had just gotten used to the idea that there was no basketball, and was enjoying the extra 10 hours a week.

I'm disappointed that I can't leisurely enjoy this board, and absorb what I'm reading. Now that we've returned to dozens of posts per day, I again must race through the day's new posts, my eyes flicking left and right, deciding quickly which lines to skip based upon the topic sentence found in each paragraph's first sentence.

    Life has sped back up.

66 games sounds about right to me. I just wish they would do that every year with more days off.

Sort of what Shaq used to do in his prime. :)

No kidding. What was the last month or two of bickering all about? Seems like the owners caved on everything but the 50/50 split as soon as litigation entered the equation.
