Amare calls Francis an "Idiot" <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Stoudemire, the second-year Suns forward, had just completed a dunk over Yao Ming that cut Phoenix's deficit to nine points. After dunking, Stoudemire turned toward the crowd and screamed. When he turned back toward the court, Francis nailed him in the throat. "It was out of nowhere," Stoudemire said. "I don't know why would he even think of doing something like that when I didn't even dunk on him. You know what I mean? I guess he got a little upset that we were coming back. I mean, why would he put his forearm around my throat? That's not being a professional basketball player. That's being more of an idiot. And I got really angry after that." </div> Full Article It really was a dirty play by Steve, expect a fine to be handed out to him by Mr.Stern!
Well, everybody might think it was a dumb play but I think Steve Francis did it because Yao Ming has confidence problems with being aggressive. So having a guy dunk on him & show off like that doesnt help. I think Steve Francis was just trying to show Yao that his teamates has his back when people try to get stylish on him. I am think he figures that if he puts confidence in Yao Ming that his teammates are willing to back him up, that willl give Yao Ming the confidence to continue to be aggressive on those type of plays even if he gets dunk on. And it worked because Yao came down later in the post & got Amare back. It wasnt as good as Amare on him. But it just proves that Yao wasnt willing to back down. And I think thats what Steve Francis was doing just trying to help him keep his confidence to be aggressive.
If you or a teammate gets dunked on then you got to take it like a man. can you imagine how many fights there would be if someone started a brawl after Shawn Bradley got dunked on. Plus Francis has done the "im a beast, you cant touch this" song and dance when he dunks on someone.

However in Yao's the Rockets need him to be confident and agressive to win ball games, like Henacy said.
You also have to realize that there is a budding rivalery between these two young stars. Yao wants to show everyone that he should have been Rookie of the Year last year and Amare wants to show everyone why he got it. I also think there may have been bad blood concerning the two during the rookie game because Yao didnt play as much Amare.
heh, Steve Francis gets angry at someone celebrating after a dunk? someone should count how many times he hangs on the rim and points, after his dunks...
yea i know really. of all people to complain about over celebrating on a dunk STEVE FRANCIS calls someone a idiot? Someone needs to give him a highlight tape, of himself.

I don't think there is any bad blood at all between Yao and Amare, I honestly don't think Yao really cared that much about the ROY. Even if he did, I just can't see that guy being mad at anyone over it.
Idiot is the proper word to use when describing Francis. Just because somebody dunks on your team, you have to nudge them in the freaking throat!? Nah, that isn't right!
