<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">When the Suns emerged from a timeout during a recent game with three guards and two small forwards on the floor, a fan behind the Phoenix bench cupped his hands in the direction of coach Mike D?Antoni.

?Geez coach, exactly how small are we gonna go here??

The starting lineup tonight against the Spurs should answer that question. Hoping to give Amar? Stoudemire a new comfort level and inject more speed into a team that has stumbled to a 1-3 start, D?Antoni said he will start Stoudemire and Leandro Barbosa in place of Kurt Thomas and Boris Diaw.

?Eventually he's going to start anyway, so we might as well get going and get our rotation down," D'Antoni said. "We're going to try everything to get him jump-started. If he's more comfortable that way, gets some adrenaline going, then we'll try it.?

The election-day decision didn?t earn landslide support among the players. While Stoudemire has struggled, as was expected, in three of the first four games ? his team has been outscored by 28 points while he?s been on the floor, and by 13 in Saturday?s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers ? the Suns are a plus-26 when Thomas plays.

?I guess it?s worth a try,? guard Steve Nash said. ?Kurt has been one of our best players, but he?s a veteran and can handle it. Maybe it will be conducive to Amar?s development to be out there with the starters.? Of course, D?Antoni wasn?t taking a straw poll on the move. He?s concerned that his team has been listless, annoyed that it has yet to find its offensive groove and angry that it currently sports the NBA?s worst defense (allowing an unsightly 110 points per game).

?Being 1-3 allows you to experiment,? D?Antoni said. ?We?ll try everything until we hit upon a solution. When we hit one, we?ll probably stop there for a while.?</div>

Well Diaw has been playing poorly, but KT hasn't been bad, but I think most expected Amare to be starting at some point. He hasn't played that well so far though.

Just because someone doesn't start the game by no means he's a waste of money. I'd be concerned with who ends it.
