Who do you think is Better Tim Duncan or Amare Stoudemire Please remember to put all "who is better?" topics into the out of bounds section of the forum, we dont want the reguylar NBA section getting clustered with this type of topics-Henacy
I think Tim Duncan is better he has 2 rings which will probably be 3 soon. Hes more experienced and a better all around player.
Well Duncan is "better" because he is smarter and more experienced. But if I had to pick one of the two I would take Amare because he is easily the big man of the future.
Duncan is the better player right now, but if I was starting a franchise today I would take Amare because he is the future.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Avery:</div><div class="quote_post"></div> i didnt really mean it like that. i think duncan is better now but i wanna see amare in a few years. if he keeps improvin every part of his game then he cud be a truly great player and maybe as good as duncan or better
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Purple Fever:</div><div class="quote_post">These comparisons are ridiculous! Duncan is incredibly underrated on this site.</div> tim duncan is not underrated....duncan is really not underrated at all he has always had a great team built around him.....excellent role players and a couple of potential stars so i dont consider him underrated...dont get me wrong he is a great player but i would consider him tied with amare...all he has is the experience edge and defense comes with that territory and i see amare improving in that area very soon.....amare will win the mvp around 3 times in his career.i garantee!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hungi1115:</div><div class="quote_post">amare, hands down .. he'll just dunk on everyone's face. lol</div> And Duncan can't? He is way more skilled than stoudemire, and until Amare does half of what Duncan has done this isn't even a fair comparison.
I think the best way to approach these kind of questions (who is better?) is to imagine all the NBA players as in a draft, and you're given the choice to pick one of them as the first player on your team. Further, assume that they're abilities will not change so you're not "drafting" based on potential or past successes, but rather based on their current capabilities. So, if I could pick between Duncan and Amare, with no prior knowledge of the other players which will eventually fill out my roster, it would be an easy choice for me. I would take Duncan. He's a far greater rebounder and defensive player. He's a better passer. He's more adept at initiating a fast break off the defensive rebound. And most importantly, he's a better leader, who I believe would be more likely to positively impact the play of his teammates.
Duncan>Stoudemire Duncans not even 30 yet, and being more entertaining doesn't make you a better player. PPG- Stoudemire APG- Duncan RPG- Duncan All Amare can do is dunk and a little bit of a mid range jumper. Duncan has everything Amare has. Amare is going to be a superstar but he isn't better than Duncan.
Duncan. Funamentally, the best big man in the NBA today. I think Amare is better Athletic wise, but that does not make him the better player.
Duncan or Stoudamire Presently, Duncan easily. He may end up as the greatest power forward to ever play the game, and is arguably there right now. Stoudamire is great, but he has a lot of room to grow. He has more physical tools than Duncan, but he is not as fundamentally sound, does not have a good a post game as Duncan, but then again, nobody does, and is not as versatile and savvy as Duncan is, at least not yet.
Lets just look back at the conference finals. Amare had a lot more points per game, more rebounds per game, and more blocks per game. Talk about Amare not having the defensive game? He only blocked the "greatest" power foward in the league. And it wasn't no jump shot block either. It was a dunk block!!! Amare needs to work on a couple of things but he is only 22. He'll be 23 in November. 3 Years in the league and he makes Tim Duncan look like tiny Tim in the conference finals.
Amare is one of my favourite players but he ain't the kind of player Tim Duncan is,If you look at Duncan then you see he does all those little things for the team.Talks with others during time-outs what they need to do,makes others around him better, etc. Amare ain't that kind of player yet but I hope he will be. Duncan for now
