http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_a...mavs_spurs_could_be_players_for_amare_in_s&t/ LaMarcus, Rudy and who else? And who exactly is orchestrating this deal? I thought this was clown town?
Interesting. He'd be that legit second option but as mediocre of a defensive player LMA is, Amare is worse.
Well fuck. Stop the presses! Big news on the horizon! We're one of four teams that could be possibilities in a scenario!
With Pritchard fired and Warkentien out of the loop, Woj is begging for table scraps. The Blazers could be a possibility to get LeBron James in a sign and trade scenario!
ORL has a 6.8M exception for Hedo, but that doesn't help in a S&T. This source knows less than lots of people on this board. Since Amare can only come back by himself in an S&T, you can't use an exception to trade for him unless the exception's bigger than the S&T
Woj relayed the info, which is a bit surprising, even though I think he's a douche. It makes no sense.
Color me unimpressed. Amare' (is that where that goofy, useless accent goes?) would be a nice offensive piece and an upgrade over LMA at that end of the court, but he doesn't play D, doesn't rebound all that well and while that's not great when you're paying a guy like LMA 10 million a year it's simply crippling when you're talking about a player who thinks he's worth a max contract. hmmmm .... mmmmm ... meh ... gah.
I'd give up anything short of Roy, Oden and Batum to get Stoudemire. It seems unlikely, though, that he'd choose to come here in a sign-and-trade.
+1. I'm weary of giving Stoudemire a MAX contract without Nash on the roster, and with a coach that does not know how to use Pick & Rolls.
Well, playing alongside guys like Camby and Oden, does his defensive and rebounding deficiencies matter all that much? He is a legit second option on offense which people say we lack. (Although I believe LaMarcus is a good second option with his own defensive issues) I'm not really a big fan of Amare, nor do I really see this kind of deal happening, I was just relaying the message.
Maybe it would work, and certainly LMA does an OK job given his age and contract, but there's just something about Amare' that scares me a little bit. I guess it would all boil down to the opportunity cost and what kind of commitment he wanted in years. If it was just LMA, Rudy and Joel's expiring contract and he signed for 4 years at the max I suppose I could be talked into it, but that's an awful lot of salary to give a guy that has a habit of pulling disappearing acts. And FWIW, I didn't really take it as you endorsing Amare' to PDX, I was just offering my unsolicited opinion.
It's probably the fact that he's a headcase, and is easily frustrated, which IMO contributes to his disappearing act(s). Although he did play consistently well in the Playoffs this year.
I would love to bring Amare to Portland. But lets stick to moving JPEC, Pendergraph and Bayless for him. And if they want to include Nash - then we throw in Miller. Keep one of our draft picks to replace Playless. and pry Beasley from Miami for Gomes and a pick Nash/Mills Roy/Rudy Batum/Beasley/Cunningham Amare/Camby LMA/Oden just play two of the above four players as PF/C combos
