but that it won't be announced until after the Allstar game so as not to mess things up with him being voted in as a West starter. ^^This didn't make any sense to me. Why would it matter?
Amare being on the Eastern (or maybe Western squad still) as a representative from the Bulls or Heat (or mystery team) getting booed mercilessly probably wouldn't be too good for the league imo.
If he's traded to the East he wouldn't be on the East's roster. He might get booed regardless with the story leaking out. I'd think the team acquiring him would want him right away.
Yeah, this is sorta fishy because when trades go down teams sit those players so injuries wont screw up the trade edit....well they only have one more game til the AS break. Be interesting if he sits
I feel good about the Bulls chances. New Jersey doesn't have the pieces to make an attractive package. Same with Detroit (unless they include Stuckey) which shoots up their long term future, with Iverson-Hamilton-Prince-Stoudemire being a bit ugly of a core. If they didn't do the Iverson trade, than it'd make more sense, but the Pistons would then have to recommit to Iverson, and try to make the Pistons win now...and if they don't re-sign Iverson, or it ends up disastrous, Amare will bolt anyhow, leaving the Pistons Stuckey-less. The Suns aren't giving Stoudemire to D'Antoni, so you can count New York out. I think it all comes down to Michael Beasley. If the Heat indeed offered Beasley, then game over, Stoudemire's there's. But if they're just making a package around Marion, Chalmers, and loads of draft picks, then the Bulls are the obvious choice. Interesting that David Aldridge said that Amare will definitely be traded though.
Pistons could offer Sheed and make a push this year to win a title. It's hard to figure what Phoenix is actually trying to accomplish by trading Amare.
Did anyone just see the Bulls starting introductions? Thomas/Noah looked like they were doing the walk of death. Luol Deng looked indifferent. Rose and Gordon looked giddy.
Thomas always have that look, usually he's chewing on his mouth piece and looks like he rather be somewhere else. It pisses me off-he seems like a smug a-hole.
You should watch him do pre-game warm ups. You'll want to go down and smack him. At least on the times I've seen him. Maybe he's gotten better.
Last Bulls game I went to, Derrick Rose and Drew Gooden were playing one on one before the game....for the entire damn shootaround. Someone should have went over and slapped both of them on the face.
It's not an Eastern conference team, but if the Warriors are serious, they might try something like this: Which would get the Suns way under the luxury tax in addition to giving them several nice young players. I'd do that over anything the Bulls can offer. In the East, I'd imagine the Nets could do something similar: Suns get: Yi, Boone, Swift ($10.4M) and give Amare and Amundson ($15.9M) which puts them under the luxury tax, saving them a boatload of cash (something like $10M+) Griz get: CDR, Williams, Ager, Cash for Hadadi (Hadadi for Williams gives them a year off the boner contract they gave Hadadi) Nets: get Amare, Amundson, Hadadi Could the Bulls pull a deal like that by giving Memphis someone (Memphis is under the cap). Yes, but not to the same extent because we don't have the combination of contracts whose cost we can cover by sending to Memphis and luxury tax headroom to absorb more money coming back. In short, in the Nets trade I proposed, the Nets get Phoenix under the LT without going over the LT themselves. I don't think we can provide that.
