He was put on the IL by the Suns. That means he has to sit out five games minimum. Luckily four of those five games he has to sit out are against teams that won't necessarily kill the Suns in the frontcourt. Well, actually, every team manages to kill the Suns in the frontcourt, but these teams have some of the weaker frontcourts (Magic, Heat, Hornets, Clips). I'm assuming he will be able to comeback for the Sacto game, the article that the link below takes you to says that's the earliest he can play. Through the two games he's missed so far the Suns have managed to do well without him. They won the Celts game, and almost had another amazing comeback in the Nets game. Trybanski has been activated to fill the roster spot left by Amare.

Tough loss for the Suns, a shaky start to go along with losing Marion, Zarko, and now Amare for games due to injury.

Great chance for some teams to get an advantage early on with some W's.

(Rockets, Suns, Blazers, Grizzlies, and Nuggets will all fight for the last 3 playoff spots)

Well I was wrong in my assumption and Amare will not play in the Sacto game. In fact, he's out four weeks. The way the Suns have played, which doesn't seem like it will change, I doubt they make the playoffs. Some major things really need to be done.

Even before the injuries, the team just looked like they lost focus

Frank Johnson will lose his job before the season is over, book it. The injuries won't help them win games to give management an excuse.

Exactly. I have gone on record before stating that I don't think, and never did think, FJ was a suitable coach. Great assistant, not so great coach. I heard some rumors that he can lose his job as early as when the Suns get back from the East Coast trip they are on (which ended tonight).

[quoteright]Phoenix coach Frank Johnson, whose team ended a four-game East Coast trip with a 1-3 record, said the Suns are depending too much on perimeter scoring. [/quoteright]
Injuries are haunting this team. First they lose Shawn Marion for a few games and now they've lost Amare. It's only a matter of time before Starbury's sensitive feet start acting up and he misses a duration of games. The usual injured culprits, Penny & Guggs have actually been healthy for the season, and Penny is picking up some of the slack with more minutes.

Factoid: The Suns are 2-6 in back-to-back games. Phoenix has five back-to-back sets in December.

The player the Suns should explore using more is Jahidi White. He's a servicable center when he gets the minutes and he can pound inside and take some of the pressure off of Amare. I would like to see the Suns use Amare similar to how the TWolves use KG. Amare has a lot of the same abilities as KG, and with more freedom to prowl on defense, he would be able to shutdown the weakside and get a lot of blocks from behind.

Frank Johnson will likely lose his job. Who would be the ideal candidate to replace him?

last year i liked frank johnson, but i dont get to watch many suns games so i can't really judge him, but when i watched the game against orlano the other day i was gettin really pissed off, the suns were up by what 17?, and the magic started to go on a run and johnson didnt even call a timeout, i know the players could have called one, but usually when a team gets on a really good run like that and the crowd is really gettin into the game you do something! i dont want to see the suns miss the playoffs, but that looks like it will be the case, and as for johnson, GET HIM OUTA PHOENIX! maybe the suns could bring in someone like isaah thomas or an assistant coach, what does averyone else think?

I called it in my last post! Actually I didn't call it, but I kinda foreshadowed that Johnson can lose his job after the east coast trip.

I really wanted Ivaroni to coach, but D'Antoni will do just fine I think. Those two are some of the top assistants around the league and were in positions to gain jobs before. He is also a really great overseas scout who can possibly give the Suns an advantage on draft day. The same wasn't said for FJ when he was an assistant and it showed why. He is a real good assistant, but that's all he is. Hopefully D'Antoni can put some energy into this team and get on a roll without Amare.

As for Jahidi White, I've mentioned in threads past that the Suns need to find a good rotation between Voskuhl, Williams, and him. All three are really servicable big men, not good enough to take the Suns another level but servicable none-the-less, who can have a positive impact on the team. Maybe D'Antoni can figure something out.

Hey sunsfan1357, we are good

I would think that Doc Rivers may be interested in this job, what coach would not really.

Lets see how they finish the season.
