I signed up for AMC A-List earlier this month and never knew something like this existed until recently. It is a monthly subscription with AMC theaters for around $25 a month. That lets you watch 3 movies each week in any format (IMAX, 3D, Dolby, etc.) and no extra fees (unlike Regal Unlimited). I used to love going to the movies but the outrageous prices (near me in Atlanta a ticket is $17 to $25 each) started killing my willingness to go regularly. The last movie I saw in theaters was Spider-Man: No Way Home. This service changed that overnight as I can now watch all the newest releases and it easily pays for itself after 1 or 2 movies each month. I don't purchase any food or drink at the theater either which helps keep those other costs down. Figured I'd share here for anyone else who may not realize these type of services exist. This month I've already seen: Indiana Jones And The Dial of Destiny (watched it twice!) Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (IMAX) Oppenheimer (IMAX) Insidious: The Red Door Likely will see Oppenheimer again and the upcoming Haunted Mansion movie before the end of the month. So I should avg around $3.5 per movie with some being IMAX showings!
Looks like the theater in the Vancouver mall is AMC. I presently use the Cinemark app, costs $10/month for one ticket a month, plus lower prices on additional tickets on concessions. Only Cinemark theaters in the area are Clackamas, Eastport, and Cedar Hills, but for an east-sider like myself, that works fine for me. But the AMC deal described above would definitely be superior for going to the theater more regularly.
That is my only concern right now. Mission: Impossible, Oppenheimer and Indiana Jones were movies that I wanted to see. Outside of those, the next upcoming movies are Kraven, Dune, Napoleon, and maybe Wonka. They did start releasing some older Disney movies like Toy Story, and Pirates of the Caribbean that are kind of neat to watch again in theaters. Would love to watch the original Indiana Jones on the big screen! Maybe if the writers and actors strike keep going for a while they'll do more older film re-releases.
Keep an eye on the Hollywood Theatre. They do that, and the theatre and screen are amazing. Saw Casablanca there a couple of years ago and it was fantastic on the big screen.
This has been around for years. I was a member back before the pandemic but before that, there was something called Movie Pass. You could go to one movie a day at any movie theater and it was around $20. Then AMC & Regal started their own services (AMC was first) and Movie Pass went out of business.
I have the Regal Unlimited Pass. I use it often enough that I more than get my money's worth. I just have to pay a 50 cent fee when I buy/reservre the ticket. I sometimes go see movies that I normally wouldn't see, since it's only a 50 cent fee.
